University of California System Rejecting Taxpayer’s Wishes
54% of California voters, amended the state constitution to prohibit public institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity
In 1996 Proposition 209, supported by 54% of California voters, amended the state constitution to prohibit public institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity. It was widely described as anti-affirmative action designed to end racial preferences. The University of California system has been accused of rigging its admission practices to overturn that voters’ decision. The recent resignation of a UCLA professor and member of its admission’s committee because he was refused access to admission’s data has created widespread angst and even anger.
For its part UC says it is obeying the law while adopting a “hollistic” approach to admissions relying less on grade point averages (GOA) and college aptitude scores like the SAT and ACT, and more on such things are community involvement and a subjectively refereed admission’s essay.
Critics are raising cane pointing out that only 5% of less qualified whites and being admitted while 75% more blacks are calling it “reverse discrimination”, and pointing out it is a disservice to admit unqualified students because they drop out - the drop put rate for blacks in 2007 at a sampled UCLA school was 41.6%; 15.2% for whites and only 10.2% for Asians.. They point to SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores 400 points lower for admitted blacks than white students.
Proponents like Sociologist Darnell Hunt, director of the Ralph Bunche Center for African-American Studies at UCLA routinely raise three arguments including: the prior admission policy was a failure; GPA and standardized test are not objective measures of merit, and UC’s mission mandates diversity. Hunt says it is the responsibility of a tax supported institution, like the UC system to educate future leaders in science, business and art for their communities.
Notwithstanding the arrogance that only UC can fulfill that leadership mandate the issue is exploding because of unanswered questions about the part, if any, race played in the Ivy League educations of Barack and Michelle Obama.
Obama Plays Race Card from Bottom Of Deck
“You know, he’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name,’ you know, `he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.’”
Barack Obama played the race card from the bottom of the deck saying Republicans would try to scare voters by pointing out “he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.” The remark is being compared to his earlier characterization of rural and southern Americans as gun grabbing God nuts. Not the first time. He keeps fishing. First saw it on Huffington Post.
“They’ll say”, said Obama “You know, he’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name,’ you know, `he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.’” His staff made the comment even shabbier denying he was referring to race but that Obama “didn’t get here by spending decades in Washington DC.”
According to the daily Rasmussen Report tracking polls Barack Obama now attracts 45% of the vote while John McCain earns 43%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 48% and McCain 46%. Obama made the comments in Missouri which is leaning toward McCain and as Ohio and its 20 electoral votes has moved from Leans Democrat to toss-up.
Fueled by a Thursday Drudge Report headline and heavy buzz inside the beltway, there is a surge in expectations that Virginia’s Tim Kaine will become Barack Obama’s running mate. Virginia and its 13 electoral votes is considered a toss-up and shifting the usually Republican state to the Democrat column would be important given the closeness of the race.
Obama’s Missouri comment may have been made because of new polling showing thirty percent (30%) of self described conservative Democrats say they’re voting for John McCain. Rasmussen Reports data also shows the Republican hopeful picking up support from 19% of White Democrats and 15% of Democrats over the age of 50.
Fourteen percent of voters are uncommitted. That figure includes 6% who say they’d vote for someone other than Obama or McCain and 8% who are undecided. Undecided voter include 6% who say they’d vote for some other candidate and 8% who are undecided.
Wives Matter In Race And By Race
Sixty-one percent say the candidates wives will have some effect on their vote among women the wives matter to 71% but only to 48% of men.
Michelle Obama is the much more polarizing of the two is rated favorably by 48% and unfavorably by 42% of voters. Cindy McCain is seen favorably by 49% while 29% offer an unfavorable assessment.
Perceptions, as with so much of this race are split along racial lines with 86% of black voters having a favorable opinion of Mrs. Obama, who would become the first African-American first lady, only 42% of white respondents agree. Forty-eight percent (48%) of white voters register an unfavorable opinion of Mrs. Obama, as opposed to a 5% of black voters. Fifty-three percent (53%) of white voters have a favorable opinion of Mrs. McCain, a view shared by 27% of African-Americans. Forty-eight percent (48%) of African-Americans and 25% of whites give Mrs. McCain unfavorable marks.
“RiseUp” New Race-Related Magazine Raises Questions.
In a further reflection of a changing America (change meaning different not necessarily better), a weekly magazine dedicated to race-related content will launch June 22 and be distributed in the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Houston Chronicle, and other major newspapers. Called “RiseUp,” the publication will initially have a circulation of 4 million. Some worry that “RiseUp” is both an unfortunate title and that the publication is a big step in the wrong direction at a time of increasing polarization over race, and it could provoke greater racial tensions. The first issue’s cover story is entitled “Closing the Great Racial Divide” ironic for a magazine dedicated to a xenophobic view.
The Race Is About Race
In what is shaping up to be a presidential race about race the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday showed Barack Obama attracting 47% of the vote while John McCain earns 46%. McCain leads by double digits among White Men and Women while Obama overwhelmingly attracts the black votes 58% to 35%. Obama leads 59% to 35% among those who rarely, never, or occasionally attend Church or other religious services. Among those who attend services at least a couple of times a month, McCain leads 56% to 37%. Obama holds a 52% to 42% advantage over Clinton nationally
Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama who is outright hostile toward Hillary.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may not save the Homeland Security Committee chairmanship for Sen. Joseph Lieberman if he goes through with plans to address the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn. Reid will not kick Lieberman out of the Democrat caucus because he has endorsed McCain. A rumor that is blistering Washington DC is that Lieberman recently approached one prominent supporter of Hillary Clinton with a suggestion that he consider supporting McCain if Barack Obama is nominated.
Hillary appears set to overshelmingly win West Virginia
Why Hillary Should Stay In the Race
Everywhere on the radio, TV and internet people are saying that it is time for Hillary to step aside. For once I am in agreement with Hillary and feel she should stay in the race until the convention. I don’t say this because I think she can win, she can’t. Not unless something so outside of the pale is found out about Obama that it forces him to stand aside and I definitely don’t see that happening. I also don’t think Clinton is staying in the hopes that Obama will pick her as his VP. That isn’t going to happen either. So why should she continue to stay in the Presidential Race? If she should get out now it would look like she is admitting failure. That Obama is the winner and has beaten her. Admitting defeat or even admit the softer sounding idea of being pushed out is not something either of the Clintons can easily say. Not when she can walk out of this looking like a winner, even though Obama becomes the Democratic candidate for president.
Imagine this…. It is the convention and Clinton stands before all of the delegates, party big wigs and the whole nation via the TV coverage she would be sure to capture. Then Hillary delivers the speech of her life in which she graciously “gives” Obama all of her committed delegates. She then asks all who voted for her to help out Obama for the sake of party unity. Now instead of looking like a loser as she would if she dropped out before the convention she instead appears to be a “kingmaker”. She turns defeat into victory by giving the nation the illusion that Obama becomes the nominee only because of Hillary and her delegates.
If she did this it would totally belittle Obama’s wins. She would effectively have him cornered where he would have to now thank Hillary even though he and most of the world knows that he would have been the candidate even without her help. And if he tries to say as much or complain he would now be the one accused of tearing the party apart and even of being rude to Clinton. Plus if Hillary’s supporters who are angry at Obama end up voting for McCain this would not be Hillary’s fault for she could point to this speech and say she told them to go with Obama. It would then be Obama’s problem for not being able to keep them….
I have no idea if Hillary has envisioned this kind of end but I wouldn’t be surprised if the thought has crossed her mind. But I just don’t know if she can withstand the growing pressure from all sides to step down now. I am not fond of any of the Clintons but a part of me is rooting for her to hang in there and then go out like a winner at the convention.
World Ends With A Whimper Not A Bang.
The National Policy Institute estimates what the world will look like in 2060 – about 50 years hence.
According to an article in Human Events authored by Pat Buchanan and published on May 2, 2008 in 1950 whites were 18% of the world’s population and Africans accounted for 9%. By 2060 the percentages will be about the same but the colors reversed. Two hundred million whites will vanish by then. Arabic people, counted among whites, will rise ten-fold to 743 million and account for 75% of whites.
Iran’s population will rise from 71 to 100 million. Pakistan will grow to 300 million from about 71 million today. Afghanistan will triple to 79 million and Iraq will leap from 29 to 62 million. In America Hispanics will triple to 127 million while Mexico will grow to 130 million.
Last October PEW RESEARCH asked 45,000 people in 47 countries what they thought and majorities in 46 countries expressed fear about loss of their national culture. Sixty-two percent of Americans said more must be done to protect “our way of life.” Three-fourths wanted stiffer immigration laws and restrictions. Asians, Africans and Middle Easterners appear, by simple weight of numbers appear to be poised to inherit the earth.
“This is the way the world ends, “wrote T. S. Eliot in his closing couplet of “The Hollow Men,” “Not with a bang but a whimper.” It begs the question of whose world to which he referred.
Hillary Thumps Barack To Stay In Presidential Race
Last minute deciders gave Hillary Clinton a big 55-45% win in Tuesday’s Pennsylvania Primary than looked possible a week ago. But it still leaves her short of enough delegates to overtake Barack Obama. It does raise and will be argued that Obama can not defeat McCain because of his weakness in key states. He must win in Indiana – where Clinton is gaining momentum and North Carolina with its big black voter populations and where is has a significant lead.
The biggest arguments for Hillary may be e that if Obama can’t knock her out now how can he prevail over McCain? Obama’s biggest problem is that with the 200,000 popular vote gain in Pennsylvania and if Florida and Michigan are counted she now leads him in the popular vote. Pennsylvania black vote 90% for Obama while women and gun-totting God nuts sided with Hillary.
Obama raised $40 million in March compared to Clinton’s $20 million and although he outspent her two to one in Pennsylvania he could not overtake her. Obama brags about having 1.3 million contributors shelling out an average of $94 on their credit cards at a projected 22.5% annual interest rate. Nevertheless Obama has $40 in the bank and Hillary $9 million but with $10 million in unpaid debts.
A Serious Look at the 2008 Presidential Race

Is it to late to change the constitution to allow for a rotating triad? Probably so what with all those requirements, super majority and all those states.
So I guess, I’ll just vote for the funniest one. Who do you think that is?

Enquirer Rips Chris Mathews Out of Senate Race
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews was seriously mulling a challenge to Senator Arlen Specter as a Democrat in 2010. In the wake of a devastating story in the New York Times Magazine which depicts Matthews as a pompous, self important, sexist asshole, Matthews told the Philadelphia Enquirer in an interview that he is not going to run according to a report by Roger Stone in his StoneZone.
In the meantime, Senator Specter’s cancer has returned and he will be treated, but few believe that that will deter him from running and winning in 2010.
OBAMA IN TKO OVER CLINTON
Barack “B.S.” Obama scored a TKO (technical knockout) over Hillary Clinton in the 20th debate, since February 28th last year. Clinton did not score many points – certainly no touchdowns. Overall it was a “rope-a-dope.” Frankly it sounded like Clinton has accepted defeat. Obama jabbed and jabbed as only champions can do keeping Hillary at bay, and really didn’t have to throw risky punches which he did not. Overall tedious, silly, a waste of time and place.
Hillary has still not figured out she is NOT the “champion” — she is not and she must win the championship belt, and she did not.
