WILL THERE BE A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN?

Enemies begrudginly admire him

I’m not long on the antics of most law enforcement officers and I’m certainly not impressed with their acrimonious, truculent and intimidating methods. However, one grit and guts lawman has not only grabbed my attention, but has enamored me with his tactics. Can he win his fifth election to be one of history’s longest reigning sheriffs? Is his methods inhumane or unnecessary? All I know is this. If I were a resident of Maricopa County, Sheriff Joe Arpaio would get my vote.

Liberal democrats have coerced, bought and garnered votes of minorities and criminals for as long as I can remember. I am happy to see one lawman treat a criminal like a criminal. He takes no guff and apologizes for nothing. From my research he has done nothing but enforce local, state and federal law to the letter. He is controversial and has come under attack for many of his programs and various issues, but let’s face it, if he were doing something illegal or illicit wouldn’t he be prosecuted? Or at least get booted out of office?

Sheriff Joe has reduced recidivism with his tough, sometimes draconian, and often educational methods. He is known for erecting and managing one of the nation’s largest “tent city” jails, chain gangs, banning smoking, pornographic magazines, movies, unrestricted television and a host of other luxuries so many felons enjoy across the country. Yes, he has even banned coffee. It was designed to reduce “coffee attacks” on correctional officers, and in conjunction with banning salt and pepper, it amounted to a taxpayer savings of $20,000 a year.

He has also instituted study and drug recovery programs for inmates. His school, “Hard Knocks High”, claims to be the only high school program approved in American jails. He mandated two-week English classes for non-English speaking inmates. The course covers the three branches of government, the process of bills becoming law, state government and law enforcement. To his critics he said this. “These inmates happen to be incarcerated in the United States of America and in Maricopa County where I run the jails. We speak English here, not foreign languages.”

In 2007, Sheriff Joe inaugurated a jailhouse radio station called KJOE. The station broadcasts four hours a day, five days a week, playing only classical music, opera, Frank Sinatra and educational programming.

He instituted chain gangs, not for punishment, but for what he calls “rehabilitation”. Male inmates wear black and white striped uniforms, work eight hours a day, six days a week and perform tasks such as creating fire breaks, removing trash and burying the deceased in the county cemetery. The female chain gang, that’s right, female chain gangs, work seven hours a day, six days a week. To his critics he responded. “I don’t believe in discrimination in my jail system. Crime knows no gender and neither should punishment.” Damn! I love this guy.

There have been a myriad of complaints and controversy. In “tent city” where the inmates live in tents that get up to 138° indoors and 116° outdoors, one resident, James Zanzo’t, recounted the experience like this. “It feels like you are in a furnace. It’s inhumane.” Of which, Sheriff Joe replied. “It’s 120° in Iraq and the soldiers are living in tents and they didn’t commit any crimes, so shut your mouths.” Did I mention I love this guy?

I could go on eternally with his accomplishments and criticisms, but let me share the last, my favorite.

In 1995 the controversial sheriff used canteen funds to buy Newt Gingrich’s ten-part video lectures with the intention of playing them in the inmates’ cells. When he was queried as to whether or not he would provide his astute viewers a lecture series by a Democrat he replied. “For one thing I don’t know of any, and some people might say these guys already got enough of those ideas.” Amen brother!

Lawman Joe Arpaio has enjoyed a lengthy tenure as sheriff of Maricopa County and with the upcoming election on September 2, 2008 I believe his good deeds shall afford him another term. Although controversial and often sardonically excoriated, he has won four elections with as much as 83% of the popular vote. Sheriff Joe is the type of lawman America needs, after all, he is known as “America’s Toughest Sheriff”.

No Georgian Protest In Moscow

As the link below attests, Russian news source of the “left-center” reports a peace protest march to have taken place near St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow has been prevented by Russian security police. The appearance of a monolithic approach is downright Stalinist—and should forever separate such actions from those of the US except in the minds of die hard “blame America first” types .

“LC” is all the rage in Wash, D.C. “OC” is Out.

There is a lot of blowing going onCan we decifer it?Naturally, some things are little noticed by those of us, who as only occasional visitors to D.C. are still impressed with the history, the meaning, the majesty as well as the incumbents who we back home in our individual states and districts, have elected to advance the quest of American Democracy.

With pride we expect each to be dedicated to the people’s work and to collegiately debate weighty issues for our benefit in the many halls of our capitol.

We can be shocked then to learn about the new phenom, dubbed the “LC Phenom” by aides who talk too much.

A few of us outsiders did begin to notice furtive glances between members of Congress and the Senate as they passed each other. It is so subtle, with a raise of a brow here, the dusting of a shoulder there, the forced cough or puff of air, in various combinations not yet totally deciphered . But concentrated study has recently begun by the undercover contractors recently back from Georgia who will turn key the operations of the newly formed but not yet permanently named 501(c)3 org whose nominal purpose is to to study the difference between the words “blow” and “suck”, since so many politicians use each in back roon situations and negotiations.

But the real undercover purpose is to figure out the new, quiet, mostly only visual pig latin like code used amongst our elected lovers of pork and other pleasures. So far we have had to rely on under the table foreign donations, but we have pledges from several legislators on each side of the aisle to plug us into the very next pork place, Repubs and Dems alike thinking that we will use the money only to out the other side during this election cycle.

So far, only this much is known, or at least highly suspected. A certain combination, the raised right eye brow, followed by a twist of the head up, pursed lips lightly blowing air out while moving the head slightly around to the back probably solicits the “LC” question mark of “do you have a love child?” Slightly different combinations, starting with the left eye brow, with lips tightened to suck air in, probably turns the “LC” question into “do you Larry Craig?”.

It seems most of our leaders have begun to expect that most of them are doing something that should not prudently  be denied in front of a camera, and an effort is underway without the MSM or the MLM knowing anything about it, to get a reliable survey of which activity is practiced by whom and how many legislators are involved. We believe over ninety percent are suspected by the talkative insiders of “something”.

What the ultimate or even the near term purpose of this self survey is, remains unclear, although there is growing speculation it may be related to a new amendment to be attached to an irrelevant bill, essentially authorizing such ongoing activities as a paid benefit to help lawmakers manage the stress of their jobs and perhaps even making it a crime for anyone to expose it. The new benefit will not be taxed in keeping with the Republican pledges not to raise taxes. Democrats are expected to go along with that if they get to extend the benefit to family and “friends”. We just hope our funding gets in with the first possible pork roast because we need new furniture.

Unfortunately, the truth about the LC Chronicles, is really still blowing in the wind or elsewhere, but you can be assured that as we find more credible evidence, we will leak it to the National Enquirer, chosen because our very investigation of the LC Phenom could get us kicked out as a New York Times blog contributor, which we conduct under a name you would never suspect. Fox news has no clue either.

But anyone who bothered to read to the end or simply jumped here first, of course knows the LC Phenom refers to the initials for naughty behavior by someone in each dominant political party.

Alphabet Soup of Activist Hypocrites Try to Block Wind and Wave Energy Projects In California.

Childish hypocrites

Hypocrisy of obstructionist minority, egotists and “nimbyism” harming everyone else.

Fifty-one percent of Californians support drilling off its coast bringing to 49 states that do support it. Some want to pursue only alternatives and most say do it all.

The Electric Power Research Institute estimates enough wave power can be extracted from coastal waters to account for about 15 percent of California’s electricity production. Wind could provide up to 110 percent, according to a Stanford University study published last year. Wind and Wave generated electricity could replace 125% of California’s electricity.

Offshore wind and wave technologies are promising, but untried. But, current wave technology is mature enough for demonstration testing.

Even before there are concrete plans to do either obstructionist are swarming all over the idea. Speculating about potential damage to the coast’s prized vistas and fish industry.

Northern California’s biggest utility company, Pacific Gas and Electric Co., would connect such wind and wave produced electricity to the power grid.

The Recreational Fishing Alliance is skeptical. concerned wave power may interfere with fisheries as the buoys bob up and down in the waves. Their biggest complaint right now, however, is that local fishermen and residents have had no say in the planning. Fishermen Interested in Safe Hydrokinetics, or FISH is battling for a role in the planning.

Both group frittered for months and missed a federal deadline has passed for gaining an official voice in the legal planning for the wave projects, alongside PG&E and federal energy regulators.

Cindy Sheehan on the ballot in Frisco’s 8th District!

It was confirmed today that Cindy Sheehan has delivered more than the required 10,000 signatures to ensure her place on the ballot this November in California’s 8th District as an Independent challenger to incumbent Democrat Nancy Pelosi. This is just the sixth time in California history that this has happened.

Sheehan has garnered nationwide support for her candidacy as people have come to realize that a successful challenge to Pelosi is the best chance for drastic policy change in Washington. Under Pelosi’s ineffectual leadership, Congress’ approval rating has free fallen to a historical low of just 9%. Sheehan has been an outspoken critic of Pelosi, citing her failure to end the Iraq war and advance articles of impeachment against George W. Bush as reason for her challenge.

Most recently, she was removed from the ‘non-impeachment’ hearings for standing up and calling it exactly what it was: A toothless sham.

Ban On Homosexual Marriages Trails In California

Money Flowing Into CalifornMarriage is the cause of all divorcesia on Both Sides

The constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage in California is drawing large contributions from both sides. The amendment which will appear on the November ballot, was introduced following the California Supreme Court’s May 15 ruling legalizing same-sex marriage. The amendment states: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

The homosexual rights group Equity for All and a related organization raised about $2.6 million in the first half of 2008 to fight Proposition 8, according to the San Jose Mercury-News. That’s about $300,000 more than the amount raised by the major backers of the amendment, Protect Marriage and the National Organization for Marriage-California.

James Dobson’s Focus on the Family organization, gave $250,000 to Protect Marriage that supports the ban. Focus on the Family told the Mercury-News that Dobson’s organization believes the outcome of the vote on Proposition 8 will affect the rest of the country as well. California does not require couples to be residents to marry there.

Donations have continued to pour in since the end of June, and much of the money has been coming from outside California. The Mississippi-based American Family Association gave Protect Marriage $500,000 on July 21.

Equality for All recently received $1.05 million from a political action committee of the Washington, D.C.-based Human Rights Campaign, and $250,000 from the Gill Action Fund, a gay rights foundation in Denver.

Both sides believe they can raise between $10 million and $15 million by Election Day.

Back in 2000, a proposition declaring that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California” passed with 61 percent of the vote.

The Supreme Court ruling struck down that statue, meaning the constitutional amendment is needed to ban same-sex marriage.

Barack Obama opposes the initiative, calling it “divisive and discriminatory,” but he remains opposed to same-sex marriage and supports civil unions and domestic partnerships. His presidential rival John McCain announced his support for the amendment in June.

The debate has even generated controversy over the veracity of the California based Field Poll. During the Proposition 22 debate the Field poll, as it does now claimed support for homosexual marriage was 50% but it passed by over 60%.

A July 15, 2008 Field Poll says 51% will vote “no” and 42% will vote “yes.” The major parts split while non-partisan voters overwhelmingly oppose it 66-27%.

Strange Haze Deemed Cause of PPS in Capitol

Only cheap alternative solution, no sponsors thus no funding for studyThe Underground Association (UASS), a quiet think tank devoted to studying the cause of PPS which afflicts most of our nations governmental incumbents according to recent polls giving congress a record low 9% approval rating, barely more than a quarter of President Bush’s own personal best low, sans warm fuzzies, has developed a new theory and as luck would have it there might be a solution or two, all very expensive.

These pictures taken from on high seem to establish an 88% correlation between the observations of the dubbed “Hazy Phenom” (TM) and the PPS, some think stands for Partisan Political Stupidities, but that has not yet been confirmed by the AIL, the Agency for Intelligent Life, an underfunded department of NASA which collaborates with UASS.

Merck is said to be negotiating with overseas investors to fund the years of testing the bullet shaped pill vaccine they have developed will require. Please, please do not trade Merck stock based on this Insider Information not yet publicly available.

If ultimately approved, it will be given to all political parties at a taxpayer cost of $100,000 per dose, most of which will go to the overseas investors because no Democrat wants domestic Merck to be the next Exxon. Only one dose is thought to be necessary for the first year, thereafter the taxpayer will get a break with the biannual booster doses ($70,000 each) which are required, unless a special needs double dose is required in the case of Larry Craig, Ted Stevens and John Edwards to name only a few.

Each dose is to be taken rectally immediately by anyone who declares their candidacy for public office. Losers in any campaign will be eligible for half the normal lucrative congressional retirement package after a 2 month waiting period. Fortunately, for the FDA required study, it will be necessary to enlist only a few actual live incumbent political volunteers, who will immediately then be eligible for 4 times their lucrative governmental retirement package, plus their normal salary and perks.

Taxpayers are receiving a huge Congressionally Mandated Expenditure Reduction Benefit due to the adroitly formulated study in this 2008 Enactment, because most of the tests will be run on about a 1000 randomly selected amongst the newly discovered 125,000 previously unknown lowland gorillas in Africa, the closest known genetic match up to the subjects under consideration. Each of these gorillas and their descendants into the next four generations will only receive half the benefit of the human participants.

If this does not work, some think the UN will have to be brought in to help our government eventually manage a merger with higher intelligent life SETI hopes to find SOON, but if that does not happen, then perpaps, Robert Mugabe could be recruited to pull us out of our downward spiral which many believe is due directly to the PPS epidemic. Others think T. Boone Pickens should be hired to build a giant fan to blow them away, or at least the Hazy Phenom and solve our energy problems at the same time.

Voter Fatigue Sets In - Enough Coverage of Obama Already

Can't get to the election fast enoughConversely Voters Say (in other polls) They Still Don’t Know What Obama Stands For Or Who He Is.

Forty-eight percent told the Pew Research Center they’re heard too much about the Democratic candidate, Obama according to a poll released Wednesday by the nonpartisan center. Just 26 percent said the same about his Republican rival, John McCain.

According to an ongoing Pew study, Obama has appeared in more news stories this year and more people say they have heard more about him than McCain, the longtime Arizona senator who also ran for president in 2000.

Two-thirds of Republicans and about half of independents said they’ve heard too much about Obama, as did a third of Democrats, a significant number.

Nearly four in 10 said they’ve been hearing too little about McCain _ about four times the number who said so about Obama. About half of Republicans, four in 10 independents and even a quarter of Democrats said they’ve not heard enough about the GOP candidate.

Helen Thomas Is 89 - Won’t Stay In Attic

Thank you Mr President (Kennedy to Bush)

Has been UPI White House Bureau Chief for 25 years.

White House reporter Helen Thomas, the “Crazy Lady Who Won’t Stay in the Attic”, celebrated her 89th birthday on August 4th. Born in Kentucky in 1920 to Lebanese parents, reared in Detroit a 1942 Wayne State University graduate (then Wayne University) she has been a lifelong journalist. Thomas has covering the White House as UPI White House Bureau Chief for 25-years and Presidents Kennedy, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, H. W. Bush , Clinton and G. W. Bush with her signature “Thank you, Mr. President” closing every news conference.

A dedicated Democrat and self-avowed liberal she laments press corp efforts at unbiased, non-partisan coverage. Now in her dotage and long called the “Sitting Buddha” her increasing truculence and intransigence has consigned her to purgatory by the current White House, and to avoidance by many around Washington D. C. In July 18, 2006 she attacked the later White House Press Secretary Tony Snow demanding the U. S. intervene in the then Lebanese War provoking him to respond “Thank you for the Hezbollah view.”

Thomas developed a stomach infection in May 2008, and has not appeared in press conferences or written her weekly column since. She is expected to recover and return to work as the longest serving reporter to report on the White House in American history and will continue to try to gum conservatives to death.

Lifestyles in Turkeyville, U.S.A.

Learn to drive lessLife in the U.S.A. has begun to get a little stiffer these days, a little harder, hasn’t it? To the extent that perhaps you’ve been forced to cut back somewhat in your spending, stopped going to your favourite steak house or Starbucks, in your bid to avoid spending too much. Perhaps you’ve even had to curtail other habits, like going for a cruise in your favourite SUV StarCruiser whenever the mood takes you.

I see the grumblings in the newspapers and in blogs concerning both oil and the dollar. It seems the biggest grouse is the cost of gasoline, which is probably the very flagship of American democracy and capitalism. Some blame the government’s mishandling of domestic affairs, some blame OPEC and some blame Europe and the EU for the dollar’s volatile behaviour. It seems that life has become too comfortable, expectations too high to the extent that no accommodation has been made for a downturn in the US economy. No one believes in savings anymore, credit cards multiply and proliferate easily spreading their seed. Buy now and pay later. And boy are you paying now….

I see American’s whining, “Oh my God, gas costs over $4 a gallon now !! Soon it could be over $7 a gallon!! Eeek!!”. Give me a break, give it a rest people. This sort of bleating only convinces me that Americans live entirely cocooned in their own lifestyles, not concerned, not giving a damn about how it is outside across their waters in Europe or other parts of the world.

In UK the cost of petrol is now is £1.10 per litre. That’s about $2.20 per litre folks. That equates to $8.32 per US gallon. And that’s right NOW. The cost of petrol in UK and Europe has always been way higher than the US which has lower gas taxation as well as the wonderful advantages of the dollar being the World Reserve Currency. So when a European like me sees all the screams of US protest at the cost of gas — now at a pawltry $4 a gallon — we just tend to laugh and shake our heads.

But if gas — which is arguably at the very heart and guts of the American lifestyle — goes up to $7 a gallon, then perhaps the unthinkable will indeed happen. The American Way will be forced to change for the worse. Perhaps it will even become more like the European lifestyle. Eeeek….!!

And, let’s face it folks, we all love our lifestyles. And there is nothing on God’s earth that is worse than having to downsize your own lifestyles.

Wars and rebellions have started for lesser reasons….

The Russian Bear Is Back In A Big Way With New Attack Submarines

Spending oil money on submarinesRussia Building New Offensive Nuke Armed Underwater Boats

The construction of new-generation nuclear-powered ballistic missile and attack submarines is a top priority for the Russian Navy’s development, the Navy commander said on Friday according to the Russian Information Agency Novosti

According to a new doctrine for the development of the armed forces, Russia will completely modernize the naval component of its nuclear triad by 2016.

Fourth-generation Borey-class nuclear-powered submarines armed with Bulava missiles would form the core of Russia’s fleet of modern strategic submarines.

The first submarine in the series, Yury Dolgoruky was built at the Sevmash plant in the northern Arkhangelsk Region and will soon join the Russian Navy. It will be equipped with 16 Bulava (SS-NX-30) ballistic missiles, which can carry up to ten nuclear warheads, and have a range of 8,000 kilometers (about 5,000 miles).

Two other Borey-class nuclear submarines, the Alexander Nevsky and the Vladimir Monomakh, are currently under construction at the Sevmash plant.

In 2009, the Russian Navy will receive the first nuclear-powered attack submarine of the Project 885 Yasen (Graney) class, named Severodvinsk.

Russia is also building a new series of diesel-electric submarines.

Hypocrisy in America

woo pi

With an abundance of hypocrisy in America, who is

Your Favorite Hypocrite?

Hey there America, what’s your favorite gaffe of recent years? Was it a gaffe, or hypocrisy run amuck? Here are a few of mine, and make no mistake about it, there were no gaffes in these.

Whoopi Goldberg, Al Sharpton and good ol’ Reverend Jesse Jackson, a trio of hypocrisy. A ménage à pocrisy if you will.

Whoopi’s Pecksniffian attitude illuminated brightly on the View during her acrimonious assault on poor little cry baby, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Once again it was the controversial and hackneyed “N” word debate.

For someone to say the black community can use a particular word, and no other race can, sounds like pure hypocrisy to me. To purport blacks have “taken the N-word back and made it their own” is ludicrous. The biased, the racist, the hate mongers, those are the ones who make words their own. They are the ones who give Play for Race Card for all it's worth, and it is worth A LOT.special meaning, degrading, derisive and hateful meanings, to certain words. For Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Whoopi Goldberg, or any of the black community to have a ritual of “burying the N-word” and then espouse the use of it in pop culture, or condone its use amongst a particular class of people, is pure hypocrisy. Not only was Whoopi being hypocritical, but her ideals and rhetoric perpetuate racial friction far beyond what educated and rational people should allow.

Jesse Jackson’s sardonic excoriation of Barack Obama, an eloquent, aristocratic, charismatic and well educated black man, is beyond hypocrisy. It is a showing of Mr. Jackson’s abysmal ignorance and it displays his own inadequacies when it comes to leadership. Jackson is not a godsend to the black community, he is the eternal wind that carries the racial divide in America.

Cut guy

Al Sharpton first came into the national spotlight during the Tawana Brawley debacle. That’s where he falsely accused Steven Pagones, then-district attorney, of raping her. Remember that? Brawley claimed a white man abducted, raped and scrawled racial epithets on her with feces. A grand jury later determined she made it all up to avoid being punished for staying out too late. Sharpton’s inexorable defamation caused Pagones indelible hardships and threats on his and his child’s life. Filing suit against Sharpton for liable defamation a jury awarded Pagones a handsome judgment. However, it took Pagones over two years to collect since Sharpton transferred all his assets into his wife’s name and Pagone only got paid when Sharpton’s friends eventually ponied up. To this day Sharpton has refused to apologize for his actions.

And what about the racial epithets he hurls around like so many pieces of candy thrown to children. At a funeral he complained about “the diamond merchants in Crown Heights,” a disparaging reference to Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish population. Or in 1995 when he referred to a Jewish storeowner in Harlem, with a racially divisive comment, as a “white interloper”. Sharpton covertly incited the black community to demonstrate in the streets where Freddy’s Fashion Mart was stormed and set on fire, killing eight. He denied any moral responsibility and said he never spoke at any protest rallies, therefore, he could not be held responsible. However, tapes showed up later proving Sharpton made a provocative speech at least once intimating and explicitly using racial epithets. When asked about it, Reverend Sharpton replied. “What’s wrong with denouncing white interlopers?”

HypocrisyTawnya who, why, what!? abounds with Mr. Sharpton. After all, didn’t he lead the wolves against Don Imus? How can one so inflammatory, someone so anti-Semitic, have the audacity to censure and call to the carpet one such as Don Imus. I’m not condoning what Imus said, but after all, that’s what he was paid to do. Wasn’t it? Why didn’t Sharpton go after the network, or the executives of the show? Aren’t they the ones who promoted Imus’ actions? Could it be Sharpton wouldn’t be able to incite the black community with that approach? Enough said about Reverend Sharpton. I don’t think he can hold any credibility with a sane or logical person and he will go down in history as a bigoted, hate mongering, race-card-playing incendiary whose hypocrisy continually goes unchallenged.

And Al, it’s time to move into the 21st century, get rid of that James Brown hairdo.

Sick HypocriteNext is Representative Mark Foley, not only a despicable human being, but a prototypical hypocrite as well. Rep. Foley co-chaired the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children and was a leading proponent on cracking down on pedophiles. But the scandal that broke in September of 2006 exposed him for the degenerate he was and set a new touchstone for hypocrisy.

The scandal centered on solicitous emails and sexually explicit text messages he sent to a sixteen year old male page. Foley asked the teen. “Do I make you horny?” The teen later described the correspondence as, “sick, sick, sick, sick, sick.” Foley, after much derision and excoriation, resigned from Congress on September 29, 2006. Personally, I think they should have made an example of his hypocrisy and sent him to “the big house” where Bubba could make him his little boy.

Then there’s the restroom enthusiast who loves to play footsies. That’s right, the Idaho Senator Larry Craig. Didn’t he say he would be glad to do community service to make amends? Like picking up trash in men’s rooms at airports around the country.

Homosexual allegations had plagued Senator Craig for twenty-five years. He denied any wrong doing in the 1982 page scandal and insisted he was not among the seven House members accused of homosexual conduct. Then on June 11, 2007 he was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on suspicion of lewd conduct. The nature of the alleged activity was categorized by some as cottaging. (Cottaging; a gay slang term referring to anonymous male-male sex in a public lavatory, or the practice of cruising for sexual partners in public lavatories with the intention of having sex. The term may have its roots in the English cant language of Polari, or in the fact that many self-contained English toilet blocks have in the past resembled small cottages in their appearance.)

According to the police report an officer was sitting in the bathroom stall next to Craig as part of an undercover operation investigating complaints of sexual activity in the restroom. After about 13 minutes of sitting in the stall the officer observed Craig lingering outside and frequently peering through the crack of the door. It was stated that Craig entered the stall to the left of him and the officer made the following observations, which were recorded in his report.

“At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moved his foot closer to my foot. … The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot, which was within my stall area. Craig then proceeded to swipe his left hand under the stall divider several times, with the palm of his hand facing upward.”

According to the incident report and criminal complaint filed in court, the officer showed Craig his police identification beneath the partition separating their stalls and then pointed his finger towards the restroomFlirt with me exit. Craig initially said no, but ultimately complied with the officer’s request to leave the restroom. After they left Craig was reluctant to go with the officer and demanded he show his police identification a second time. Once the officer complied with the request, Craig, the arresting officer, and a police detective, who was stationed outside the restroom, went to the airport police station. The arresting officer read Craig his Marinda rights and then interviewed him about the restroom incident. At one point Craig handed his business card to the officer, which identified him as a U.S. Senator, and said, “what do you think about that?” The officer said nothing and proceeded with the interview. Craig later plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and paid $575 in fines and fees.

In December of 2007 eight gay men came forward to the Idaho Statesman newspaper alleging both, homosexual encounters with Senator Craig, or attempts by him to engage them in sexual acts. Four of the men gave graphic, recorded details of their alleged sexual encounters to the newspaper, which in turn published them on their web site. One of the four was Mike Jones, a male escort who in November 2006 was involved in a sex and methamphetamine scandal with Ted Haggard. Jones claimed that Craig paid him $200 for a massage and oral sex, which a Craig spokesman categorically denied.

Where the hypocrisy comes in is this. He criticized Bill Clinton on “Meet the Press” for the Monica Lewinsky scandal and called Bill a “nasty, bad, naughty boy.” In 2002 he voted against a bill to extend the federal definition of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation and in 2004 and 2006 he cosponsored constitutional amendments to ban same-sex marriages. He supported the Federal Marriage Amendment which barred the extension of rights to same-sex couples and voted “yes” on an Idaho constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages when pressured by the anti-gay rights group, “Families for a Better Idaho”. He also voted against a bill that would have extended the federal definition of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation, which was passed in 2007 by both the House and the Senate as the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007.

The LGBT advocacy group, the Human Rights Campaign, issued guides to candidates’ voting records in 2004 and gave Craig a 0 rating. Mr. Craig’s private life definitely belies his public record and for this he gets my vote for the runner up for hypocrite of the decade.

And after that conglomerate of hypocrites we come to my personal favorite, that’s right, ex-Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. The epitome of hypocrisy, not to mention sanctimony.

A new sheriff came to Wall Street on December 20, 2002, his name was Eliot Spitzer. He took the podium at the New York Stock Exchange and announced his intention to protect the small investor. “The Joe Smith in Utica and Jane Smith in Topeka, the one thing they deserve is honest advice and fair dealing,” he roared across the floor. Spitzer was the protagonist in an ongoing saga, protecting the little guy from minor, sometimes insignificant, transgressions of nefarious villains. His best asset was his ability to draw in the public and play on their desires and prejudices. Isn’t this the selfish acts of a demagogue? Hmmm, I believe it is.

Spitzer was indeed the “Wall Street reformer” as depicted by securities lawyer Greg Bruch in this statement. “Is Wall Street cleaner and more highly regulated because of Eliot Spitzer? Absolutely.” But Spitzer always seemed to aggrandize every issue, every grievance. Always calling it to the forefront and promulgating it to make sure everyone was aware of his righteous actions. However, he was always in such a hurry to be at center stage to attain stardom, perhaps in consideration of advancing his own political career, it appeared he had forgotten about Joe and Jane. In doing this he was viewed as somewhat unorthodox and lacked the skills or desires of a more methodical regulator. He never prosecuted some of the “villains” he identified and sometimes used press leaks, innuendos and intimation as a measure of guilt that he never went to the trouble of proving. Along with Bruch’s first statement he also said this. “The downside is that he introduced disrespect for the rule of law.”

Governor Spitzer eventually viewed Wall Street more accommodatingly, after all he courted many for donations during his candidacy. Following on the heels of his “Wall Street cleanup” he endorsed a consultant’s report that called for less regulation of the financial industry, an early hypocritical move in his career. All in all, it appears the ol’ sheriff has been run out of town and it doesn’t look like he’ll be coming back any time soon.

The Attorney General rattled many cages with investigations into stock research, mutual funds, insurance sales and record labels. He also attacked escort services, prostitution and drug trafficking. Here are a few statements he made in regards to the latter.

A June, 2006 statement he made regarding pending legislation.

“Another important issue that needs to be addressed is the problem of sexual predators. For over six years I have been pushing for legislation allowing the civil commitment of such individuals, and we should not letBusted, busted, busted, had enough finally? another year pass without action. In addition, we need legislation to punish those who engage in human trafficking. This is a particularly heinous crime that primarily targets women and immigrants, including those forced into prostitution. This is a growing crime and we need strong provisions allowing us to address it.”

In a press release from Spitzer’s office regarding an escort service operating in New York City, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey, a service the authorities believed was a front for a massive prostitution ring, Spitzer said this.

“This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multi-tiered management structure. It was however, nothing more than a prostitution ring and now its owners and operators will be held accountable.”

In August 2003, Spitzer announced a lawsuit against the operators of a travel agency operating in Dutchess and Queens counties that arranged tours of South East Asian bars that serve as a venue for illegal prostitution. Here is another quote from Mr. Spitzer.

“The company … promotes prostitution and the abuse of young women. This suit seeks a halt to this egregious conduct.”

This litany could go on eternally, but suffice it to say, we all know the end result. It’s not that Mr. Spitzer had numerous trysts with one or more prostitutes, it was his actions that belied his true nature, a scurrilous and deceitful nature that is most abysmal. While spending tens of thousands of taxpayer’s dollars on his own sexual gratification, he stood before all and decried the very same thing in which he partook. He condemned and prosecuted some escort services and travel agencies as illegal prostitution rings, while participating with one, the Emperors Club VIP. Mr. Spitzer will go down in history as the infamous “client #9”.

My question is this. Did then-governor Spitzer have more involvement than we know? If he used his political and prosecutorial powers to put some out of business while endorsing another, was there something more profound going on? I’ll let you, the reader, be the judge.

But moreover, with Mr. Spitzer getting my vote for hypocrite of the decade, who gets yours? What particular type of hypocrisy sticks in your craw? And who is the biggest perpetrator in your eyes?

IReporters on CNN Pan and Praise “Black in America”

CNN more than reportsVeronica Delacruz reported on CNN that comments from blacks included that they are tired of the whole race focus and do not think the much promoted CNN feature “Black in America” portrayed the average black man.

Who invited those racially insensitives to the CNN pity party?

Some of course praised it and demanded someone do something about it.

Black in America” adds some more well known examples of a poorly performing group in America but mostly it adds fuel to the fire as does the aging and irrelevant Jesse Jackson in the style of “steal my soul away,” the victim and related anachronistic approaches to improving lives by placing blame on the victimizer. You.

That is unlike “MLK: Words That Changed A Nation“, also by CNN’s Soledad. Inspiring, with useful information, many of us, regardless of race, probably still do not know.

Houston, we do have a problem but it cuts most importantly not along the lines of race but of poverty and under achievement, which visits all races to varying degrees and each with it’s different histories. Kind of like people as individuals, we all have, to a person, a unique history along with our commonalities.

Society will always lean heavier on some individuals, races, nations, neighborhoods, clubs, religions etc andNever Never Never Give Up - Winston Churchill Black and White Magnet so on. Get over it. MoveOn. Get a life, do all that you can do, become all that you can become. Persevere.

My white ancestors were discriminated against and taken advantage of by other whites, rich and poor, by blacks and probably more. Some of them overcame and prospered and some did not do as well. As Frankie sang, “That’s Life”.

I feel bad for anyone, regardless of the reason, for any distress. Humans have feelings for other humans and even Bill Clinton could mostly only feel your pain (don’t go there) but was not really able to help except for when the economy was strong.

No law could have been written that would have protected my ancestors or most down and outs today, against the sometimes dark heart of mankind, which shows up all too often….not entirely in our power, other than what we as individuals do.

We can add to the problem by harming others or not taking care of ourselves, or looking to others to make everything OK, or we can do something that at least has a chance for a more positive outcome, focus on our own self reliance while being good citizens.

Bill Sammon, Fox News Praises Obama in France

Bill Sammon commented that during the press conference in France with President Sarkozy, Barack Obama “was at his best”, that he exhibited “statesman like retstraint”

I'm not President, YET.Obama refused to engage in Bush Bashing after a question from the press about how he was going to change the “awful” foreign policy of the Bush Administration by saying, that while it has been violated (by members of his party), there is a tradition that while overseas, the President and his foreign policy is not criticized, that there is only one President.

Further, that he (Obama) “I am not the President, I am a Senator. I am running for President”. Why did he feel the need to say that?

Democrat Convention Staff Hypocritically Slurped up $644,000 in Untaxed Free City Gasoline

$644,000 Bill To Be Paid After Mayor’s Meltdown

Busted

Howard Dean assured Denver taxpayers they wouldn’t be on the hook for one cent due

to the Democratic National Convention to be held there next month.

Turns out since March, staffers working on the Democratic National Convention have been using the city of Denver’s tax-free gas pumps to fill up their cars for personal and business use - and using its carwashes to the tune of $644,000 so far.

A dispute about this prompted city officials Tuesday to promise that the local host committee will reimburse the city at a market rate for gas - and pay state and federal taxes on the fuel. “It was never the intent of the city not to properly charge the Democrats for the fuel or its taxes,” said Katherine Archuleta, mayoral liaison to the convention.

When Denver’s Mayor was cornered about his city’s largess to a political party he said, “The Republicans are doing the same thing in Minneapolis.” City officials and the GOP stopped short of calling him a liar but did say that is absolutely untrue.

A new survey shows a five-point lead by Barack Obama over John McCain wiped out over the past few weeks among Colorado voters. Obama tour has not produced any bounce in the polls in America and his “Ich bin ein Beginner” in Berlin is generally being panned as substantively lacking. Fox/Opinion Dynamics and Resmussen polls released Thursday have the race tied.

Troops Withdrawing from Iraq As Obama Flutters In

So difficult it is to show the various meanings and imperfections of words when we have nothing else butMy Word Coach words to do it with,” wrote philosopher John Locke (1632-1704).

The Washington Post printed an article Monday obviously timed to coincide with Barack Obama’s arrival in Baghdad entitled “For ‘Surge’ Troops, Pride Mingles With Doubt … Soldiers Leave a More Secure Iraq but Are Unsure if Hard-Won Gains Will Hold.” It is long on editorial opinion, and story telling but short on news - if “news” means new facts. It does reports that “The soldiers, who came to Iraq as part of President Bush’s troop increase, began returning home last week” a fact that has been virtually unreported but is widely believed to have set the timing for Obama’s appearance there.

In a companion article the Post reported, “But after meeting for nearly an hour with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other top U.S. and Iraqi officials, Obama declined to say what they had talked about.” This continues Obama’s kabuki-like silent movie strategy to give his writers time to perfect and teleprompt his speech for Euro-American audiences. So-far American main stream media have been surprisingly introspective after receiving sharp criticism for its stilted coverage of McCain versus its fawning and falling all over itself to promote Obama. In June, for instance: major TV network news developed 114 minutes to Obama to 45 minutes to McCain.

The discussion about troops in Iraq is undergoing a subtle shift in rhetoric with The U. S. and Iraq describing a withdrawal “horizon” (as far as the eye can see) rather than a time table (being a date certain). The former is fluid and includes situational analysis rather than circling a date on the calendar so enemies can hunker down, and wait. Most military people think that is an invitation for disaster.

Hypocrites By The Dozen in Keystone State “Bonusgate”

More styles from prisonFirst dozen crooks looks like only beginning of “Bonusgate”

Twelve current and former PENNSYLVANIA lawmakers and legislative aides were indicted July 10 for allegedly pressing state employees into working political campaigns on state time and then rewarding them with millions of dollars in bonuses from state coffers, a scandal that has been dubbed “Bonusgate.”

Among those charged in the grand jury investigation by state Attorney General Tom Corbett were former House Minority Whip Michael Veon, credited with engineering the Democrats’ recapture of the chamber in 2006; current state Rep. Sean M. Ramaley (D); Jeff Foreman, Veon’s former chief of staff; and Michael Manzo, chief of staff to House Majority Leader Bill DeWeese (D) until last year.

Corbett emphasized that the charges he announced were only the “initial” ones. “Let me make this perfectly clear: this is not the conclusion,” he said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

The Democrats’ and Republicans’ practice of dolling out year-end bonuses had been a longstanding but secret one in Harrisburg until the Patriot-News made it public knowledge in early 2007. Party leaders in the House and Senate initially refused to release details about

the bonuses. But it eventually came out that at the end of 2006, House Democrats handed out nearly $1.9 million in bonuses to 717 aides, in large part for thwarting third-party candidate Ralph Nader’s presidential challenge to John Kerry in the state; House Republicans awarded $270,000 in bonuses to 45 aides; Senate Republicans gave $180,000 to 16 staffers; and Senate Democrats gave $38,000 to a dozen staffers.

Corbett’s investigation focused from the start on House Democrats, ostensibly because of the volume of their bonuses. But Brett Cott, Veon’s former administrative director who was also charged by Corbett, seemed to think the course of the prosecution was an outgrowth of Harrisburg’s political culture, Corbett being a Republican. “There may be a culture here. There may be campaigning going on. Whatever. But for a systematic, focused effort to look at just one party, one house, one chamber - it’s very disappointing,” he said.

Cott evidently sees himself as a victim of that culture, something like the unfortunate Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, who ends up taking a sword because of the Capulets’ and Montagues’ feuding. When asked last October about the apparent blurring of the line between government and politics, he said: “Look, a pox on everybody’s house. A pox on everything that’s going on here.” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER)

Obama “Rocker” Like Tour Begins in Afghanistan

Will he attack without permission from Pakistan?I will attack on the terror center on other side of border (in Pakistan), Obama

Presumed Democrat Presidential nominee Barack Obama was in Afghanistan for the first time Saturday. He did not repeat his criticism of Afghan president Karzai and his government, that it had “not gotten out of the bunker” and helped to organize the country or its political and security institutions. During his campaign Obama said , “if I become president I will withdraw the U.S. troo
