The New Jerker Magazine Fanning Flames of Ignorance and Bigotry
The Satire below Is a Disservice to the Public:
The Obama and McCain campaigns each immediately expressed disdain for the satirical cover showing Obama in traditional Muslim attire and his wife Michelle wearing rifle, doing a fist tap, which I have grown partial to as a non traditional handshake I can actually remember how to do.
All in an oval office setting with a portrait of Osama Bin Laden on the wall and a US flag burning in the fireplace.
Just because one can make up this satire does not make it right. Yes, I meant to say right. Even if the Onion printed this, it would be appropriate for thinking people to wonder how it serves any public purpose. Appropriateness should still matter. The extreme rights of no one should completely crowd out community standards.
How much more arrogant, elitist and money mongering can any one magazine become? Can they not care about the unintended consequences of this presumably protected action?
I would cancel my subscription if I had one. Maybe we should all call up and order a subscription and then cancel it during the consideration period. It would be well earned if instead of padding their pockets due to increased circulation and driving more traffic to their web if this more than tasteless action backfired and they lost readership.
Just because they are clever and know that they are intending to make an outrageous swipe at those who believe or spread false rumors about the Obamas, does not make this acceptable. Not everyone who will see this on the magazine stands in every Barnes and Noble and other magazine racks will know all that the editors of this New Jerker edition knows or think they know. Not everyone reads everything there is to read about politics, let along understands the off the wall selfish motivations of The New Jerker in this case.
How can Obama or any of us expect his words of individual responsibility to gain a foothold if the likes of these jerks, and Jesse Jackson, can whimsically dilute the message and still benefit from the publicity, bad or good. It is a loss to society when bad publicity is profitable to individuals or companies. It is not profitable to the public,
Did I mention I think they are jerks?
Score another undeserved victory for the disseminators of hatred and bigotry

It doesn’t get any more ridiculous than this. Apparently the right-wingers, led by conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, have succeeded in getting Dunkin’ Donuts to pull a Rachel Ray ad for their iced coffee because the scarf she is wearing looks like a kaffiyeh. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s a traditional Arab headdress.
In her syndicated column, Malkin wrote “The kaffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad.” But her rant didn’t stop there. She continued on with her brand of misinformation. “Popularized by Yassir Arafat,” she continued, “and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant (and not-so-ignorant) fashion designers, celebrities and left-wing icons.”
The only ignoramus in this equation is Malkin and those who think like her. Amahl Bishara, an anthropology lecturer at the University of Chicago who also happens to specialize in Middle East issues, said in a phone interview that kaffiyehs “are worn every day on the street by Palestinians and other people in the Middle East — by people going to work, going to school, taking care of their families, and just trying to keep warm.”
In cowardly fashion, Dunkin’ Donuts pulled the ad rather than stand up to the right-wing oppressors that so dominate the discussion in print and on the airwaves. This is exactly the kind of slide into fascism that I spoke about in the first part of my article about America becoming a fascist state.
It’s time to stand up to these reactionary oppressors whose brand of bigotry is rarely based in fact, but almost always based in ignorance. Dunkin’ Donuts is giving Michelle Malkin and her ilk way too much credibility. They ought to bring the ad back.
McCain Reject Endorsements of Anti-Jewish and Anti-Islamic Ministers.
Pastor John Hagee’s anti-Jewish comments rolled off Senator McCain and now it is another endorsing conservative Christian Minister’s anti-Islamic distribe that has the Septuagenarian Republican presidential nominee rejected Rev. Rod Parsley endorsement just 10 hours after ABC’S GMA exposed the comment on Thursday. McCain supporters were quixk to point out it only took him 20-hours and not 20-years to reject his bigotry as it did Obama to refute Rev. Jeremiah Wright anti-white railings.
Houston, we have a problem in Obama’s own words…

“Houston, we have a problem.’ In Barack Obama’s own published words.
From Dreams of My Father: ‘I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’From Dreams of My Father: ‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’
From Dreams of My Father: ‘There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.’
From Dreams of My Father: ; ‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’From Dreams of My Father: ‘I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.’
From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’
Exaplaination please. No demanded…
