As Management of Hypocrite.com LLC and related websites, we went through our paces many times, drafting, writing and rewriting the About page (you don’t think this is the first or the last version do you?), and we took some inspiration (at least for this version and my guess is for all future versions) from an unlikely source.
For sure, this site is about many things, chief amongst them is parody and commentary and satire loosely based on hypocrisy and the hypocritizing hypocrites who hypocrite (a grammatically incorrect take off from a book by a funny aspiring Senator - as of this writing - with a hard to miss point of view.
So there it is, surprise, this site is also about a point of view or better said, lots of points of views. Importantly, those are only expressed by our Users. Yes, it is true that we do try to find ways to give rise to differences of opinions so as to begin the discussions. We have real authors and Real Personas.
This site operates in a fashion like Google does on many if not most of their sites, as a service to Users. We provide a place for Users to express their opinions, to try to change other opinions, a community dedicated to this purpose through the actions of posting their appropriate written or video content and to take a chance at both fun and growth.
Thus we will provide various opportunities and the places, for free expression, transformation and entertainment endeavoring to provide opportunities for many points of view. We want all points of view to get a proper airing despite the label of hypocrite! or hypocrisy! frequently carrying only cynical or maybe hate fulled sentiment and perhaps meaning nothing more than I disagree or I dislike you, a bunch!
We harbor a now not so secret desire to positively participate in the necessary work toward the goal of someday, somehow, bringing consensus to important areas of public interest.
The highlighted words above meld to inform and motivate us, and lead us to see unexpected commonality with an unexpected role model which embodies the processes and policies of……drafting, writing, and rewriting…….(neutral) point of view….Users…..discussions…..a community dedicated….consensus.
Wikipedia is everything we are not. In fact we are an opposite in important ways.
They are about fact and a neutral point of view (NPOV). A free dictionary. For the demonstrated benefit of all communities.
We are about personal good faith opinions (POV). A free source of hypocrisy. For the hoped for benefit of all communities
They weed out opinion and we facilitate them.
Yet we feel an attachment to their ideals, admire their positive achievements and will try to emulate their intentions where appropriate and possible. For instance can we possibly provide information the entertains and informs and thus stimulate outcomes such as positive transformation in the hearts and actions of some, somewhere, anywhere and provide help in the achievement of consensus, somewhere, anywhere it might not have otherwise existed.
And by the way, consider supporting us as well as Wikipedia in a serious way and do so while forgiving us of unintentional comparison when we are simply trying to express our admiration for Wikipedia and to find a way to express what might be our counterintuitive intentions.
May we take that as a yes? OK then, we’ll count on it!
