Edwards won among Richer White Men, How Embarrasing
To no ones particular surprise but in what was the most racially split statewide vote since Civil War Reconstruction Barrack Obama trounced Hillary Clinton by more than two to one leaving Edwards lost in the South Carolina dust Saturday. Clinton won the less educated and poorer vote. Obama overwhelmingly won among the young, college educated and blacks. Edwards won among white men.
South Carolin Broke the Laws of Illegal Discriminations
And Barack broke the curse of all candidates of not winning a majority, proceeding to resoundingly trounce Hillary 2 to 1 with some 18% going to the Native Son Edwards who is very encouraged at the results of his taking the high road, positioning himself as the adult who will stay in the national campaign and is on good financial footing. Have you noticed that in unequal ways, candidates in pursuit of voters and even voters themselves have a legal advantage which if attempted can get employers and murders in BIG trouble? What’s with that?

“A Woman in Charge” by Carl Bernstein & The Republicans
Hillary held center stage tonight Jan 24, 2008 indicating what Carl Bernstein called her in his book “A Lady in Charge.”
Tonight, she was very much “in charge” of the Republican debate. Most candidates were more prepared to campaign against her than other Republicans. They seem to be looking beyond a potential Obama win in South Carolina, to Hill & Bill in the Final Two contest in November.

onday night Democrats had the HIP BOOT DEBATE in South Carolina that had their three remaining presidential candidates wading around in a hog wallow of slung mud sponsored by CNN/BLACK CAUCUS. It was the most heated and acrimonious thus far. If looks could kill Barrack would be dead. Aside from the mutual if inconclusive splattering the most interesting part was the closing segment that the three spent discussing how Democrats could defeat Republican John McCain next November.
Clinton and Obama bickered and gnawed on each other leaving Edwards to whine that it was a three and not a two person debate. The crowd was mostly with Obama. It is axiomatic that when three people are running and two are attacking each other the third wins. That would make Edwards the winner but not last night. Obama marginally took a split decision. But, no minds were changed.
Wednesday morning ABCs Good Morning America clarified the various debate charges pointing out that both Clinton’s have made charges against Obama that are simply untrue and Obama tiptoed around the truth too.
Why Democratic Press & Politicians Will Dump Hillary
This was written January 23 and now that the voters, especially younger college age ones are confirming it’s forecast and awarding Obama state after state and delegate after delegate, one wonders if the Super Delegates will follow suit:
It seems growing numbers of the Democratic press, pundits, money types, king makers etc are joining Arianna some counterparts on the right and are either behind This Movie or want to avoid having to talk about and relive it’s contents during a Clinton Third Term.
The Black African American Barack O’bama, may be the least controversial Democratic candidate remaining. This despite his unique background, with a white mother from Kansas, whose father was from Kenya and barely knew Barack, and whose step father took the family to Muslim Indonesia to live. And this despite relatively radical politics of his youth when he at least experimented with serious drugs by his own account.
Michican Dems Divided in Myrtle Beach Debates Jan 21, 2008

It started out as as an Irish slug fest between Hillary and Bill, and Barack, who complained about also having to compete with the previous president who was joining his wife in misinforming voters about Baracks history. They each landed political punches, he said while he was helping the poor in Chicago she was sitting pretty (my words) on the Board of Directors at WalMart Corporations. She said while she was fighting against the policies of Ronald Reagan he was helping his slum lord in Chicago.
“How Cool Is it” To Have So Many Different Candidates
This from Bill Clinton from a pulpit while applauding Martin Luther King for bringing this about.
But why is Bill getting directly in the face of Barack Obama in a way a Vice President in most administrations plays the heavy instead of the President, or in this case Hillary as the candidate.
Is it working or hurting the campaign is the tough question. Obama wants to keep his hands clean so maybe he should leave the responses to Bill for someone else in his campaign. After all in this race, Obama is a level above R. First Dude.
Rich Lowry calls Bill Clintons’ antics against Barack Obama as that of a man child.
“None of our Hands are Clean”
Obama words as he walks the political and personal line all candidates walk. Sometimes it is called going negative and in most markets most candidate go that way. It is a dicey strategy because it can backfire.
Maybe this was Obama trying to limit damage to his campaign or maybe it is what he really feel and regrets contributing to negativism. Either way the remaining Democratic candidates are doing their best to at least minimize without putting themselves in the wax museum.
Regardless, congratulations to Barack for saying what he did and doing so in a fashion I can easily hear Martin Luther King saying it.
South Carolina is the Showdown for Obama and Hillary
Hillary Clinton won Nevada popular vote as predicted in most polls which could give her a pop in South Carolina. Obama got 13 delegates to Hillary’s 12 due to Nevada contortions so maybe it was a draw. If Obama doesn’t beat her in South Carolina next weekend — she seems destined. Next week’s Democrat South Carolina primary would be a very important win for Obama, and a nomination winning upset for Clinton. Edwards got a miserable 4% of the Nevada vote and it’s hard to see his resurrection but he’ll likely spend every taxpayer matching dime he can get his hands on to salve his gargantuan ego.

he commentariat says South Carolina is not as important as it once was – heretofore always forecasting the Presidential nominees – so Saturday’s Republican primary, while important was more a spring board for the Florida primary on January 29th than the harbinger it once was. Nevertheless it was a big win for the Lazarus-like McCain that staggered Huckabee and wounded Romney and terminally so, Thompson. Thompson has been branded McCain’s cat’s paw and while that seems fallacious he should drop out as Duncan Hunter did Saturday.
McCain CAN and DID
Eight years after George Bush torpedoed the John McCain campaign for president In South Carolina, JohnCan bested the rest of the Republicans, with Huckabee coming in a very close second and Romney placed, while others, maybe showed or not.
Ducan Hunter of California, announced he would drop out of the race. Bets are that he will back McCain.
While McCain bagged, meaning avoided rather than winning, the Nevada caucus probably due to the high number of Mormons in Nevada who would vote for Mitt Romney, he is well positioned for Florida and Super Tuesday.
Can John of JohnCan Fame, Remove Rudy’s Mask?
A dozen senior campaign staffers for Rudy Giuliani are forgoing their January paychecks, aides told Associated Press Friday, a sign of money trouble for the Republican presidential candidate that he denies. His Florida “firewall” is on fire as McCain takes the lead there. Republican Romney is said to be consulting his personal piggy bank and if he loses South Carolina, although he’d be politically dead, he’d likely stick around.
It snowed in Baghdad Friday for the first time in 100 years and some residents are calling it an omen of peace – hey it worked for the Green Bay Packers. Maybe for McCain too.
Split Races in the Palmetto sweepstakes
Thursday night the surviving six Republican presidential candidates debated at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where John McCain is leading in the polls. Second-by-second tracking showed Huckabee and Thompson at the top and Paul who is sounding less and less stable at the bottom. Huckabee had perhaps the best line saying, “As the Air Force used to say; if you’re not catching flak you’re not over the target – so I must be over the target.” Thompson attacked Huckabee and some think as a longtime friend of McCain he’s decided if he can not win he will help McCain.
Now, it’s all about the Wallet
year ago everybody knew the next President would be elected based on Iraq, illegal immigration and terrorism, and once again “everybody” was wrong. It is now all about a slumping economy exemplified by the per gallon price at America’s neighborhood gasoline stations. No amount of White House or Wall Street assurances; or highfalutin sounding puff will mean squat doodle if those gasoline price billboards stay where they are or, as predicted, continue to increase.
Hillary Clinton upstaged everyone Friday in a Los Angeles speech calling for a $70 billion economic stimulus package. By Saturday critics were hammering the idea of “vote buying”

January is Not OVER YET
One thing is clear — tactically almost anyone running for anything in November 2008 better have a strong strategy for women and younger voters.
Next up are January 15: Michigan; January 19: Nevada, South Carolina (R); January 26: South Carolina (D) and January 29:
Florida. It is probable Clinton will win in Nevada where she is well ahead – but Obama just got the endorsement of
Nevada’s biggest labor unions and he could pull it out.Hillary is still prowling the political battlefield poking at staffer wounds amid her downward spiral in the national polls. The axe was sharpened but stuck in a stump after the
New Hampshire win waiting to see how much bounce she gets.
