NBA Pauses for DNC Debacle
The so-called RULES COMMITTEE of the National Democrat Party will meet and rule on the apportioning and seating of delegates from the “bad boy’s and girl’s states” of Florida and Michigan. But, its ruling can be appealed to the CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE TO SEAT OR NOT any delegate or delegation, and such a challenge can apparently be brought by almost anybody and would have to be ratified by the entire Democrat Convention when it meets in Denver, Colorado in August.
Meanwhile there will be more pontificating, puffing, preening and posturing by the pair of champion shadow boxing narcissists continuing their elaborate Kabuki performance “supported” by a veteran vaudevillian troop called PDR (Pelosi, Dean, Reid) with bit players; walk-ons and fly-overs named Edwards, Carter and Gore.
That seems embarrassingly certain to continue to attract and nurture an ever more despicable assortment of lunatic-like actors, costumed as clergy, parading before an exaggeratedly swaying congregation with a seemingly inexhaustible pharmaceutical supply.
Look for code words like “suspended campaign” and “unification” reading ever more like the infamously flaccid League of Nations Charter. Let the hugging and cheek kissing begin; I suppose a remaining question is what cheeks.
The Obama Affect
I read an interesting article highlighted in the Drudge Report. It was from an article in The Australian about Obama. The journalist, Geoff Elliott compared the reaction Obama is getting to how people reacted to Mandela. In other words, people are looking up to Obama as more than just a new leader, but as a cult figure even something “akin to a messiah”. Wow.
Hillary’s Trade-Offs
As the primary continues to unfold I can’t help but think about Hillary’s life. People forget that it was Hillary, not Bill, who was the “rock star” when they first met. But she gave it all up to move to Arkansas and help an unknown lawyer run for governor in one of the most backwards states in the nation. Her friends were appalled by her decision. I can’t help but think of the song from Chorus Line “What We Do for Love”.
It wasn’t all terrible. Arkansas is in the boonies but being a governor’s wife isn’t a bad deal. Then there were the ensuing connections and how that helped her career (and checkbook). Bill might have strayed but Hillary knew he loved her and Chelsea, and he always came back. So she stayed and ended up in the White House. Again, not a bad trade off. Then he cheated there and this time publicly humiliated her and her child.
Obama Phenomena
It seems as if Obama is being carried by a tidal wave of adoration and gaining a momentum that Hillary might not be able to stop. There are reports of growing crowds wherever he goes as he mesmerizes all demographic groups: old, young, black, white, rural, suburb. I have even read of women fainting during his speeches as if he is the new Elvis or Beatle or Sinatra (pick your idol based on your generation). And yet….
Anyone who follows Obama and listens to him will agree that as wonderful as his speeches are they still don’t contain any substance. To learn more about him, I checked his website; http://www.barrackobama.com/. To my surprise
Obama Me, Me.
The Obama campaign is increasingly about how wonderfrul the Obama campaign is. Not sure if that is with or without the Obama girl.
Joel Stein of the LA Times thinks the message is becoming too self referential…..
For sure, the Obama movement is about Clinton and Bush fatigue, is a creature of our pop culture and everyones desire for more peace.
Obama Leads Clinton In Tight Wisconsin Primary
Obama has 47% and Clinton 43% in newest Rasmussen Wisconsin poll. Clinton leads by ten points among women but trails by twenty-three points among men. The election is February19th when Hawaiians will also vote. Clinton is expected to win in Hawaii.
Hillary lashed out at bama saying he is afraid to debate her. Why should he risk a gaff when he is ahead in delegates. momentum and money?
Although Huckabee will not yet bow out McCain is a 96.5% favorite to get the Republican nomination so, all attention has turned to the Democrat race that is still very much up in the air
Superdelegates Threaten to Embarrass the Party
NOTE: This was submitted to us by www.mersmanpoliticalblog.blogspot.com.
Superdelegates? Pledged delegates? You are not alone if you are asking yourself what the difference is.
In the Democratic Party 796 of the 4,049 party delegates are superdelegates. The superdelegates are made up of party leaders, elected officials, and other individuals who may cast their vote at the convention.
Superdelegates are not bound by how their state votes or the results of the election of their state.
OBAMA: IT’S NOT THE WORDS, IT’S THE MUSIC
It’s not official yet, there is still the hurdle of Texas to clear (and wouldn’t it be a kick in the crotch if that state did it to us … again) but with each passing Tuesday Barack Obama is looking less and less like a candidate and more and more like a president. This is an unlikely development. If you’d have wagered on that proposition a year ago you would have gotten a good enough price to pay off your subprime, come November.
Which begs the question: Why? There isn’t enough difference between Obama and Hillary on the issues to start a decent bar fight.
Super Hypocrisy
Super delegates constitute super hypocrisy.
But the Supreme Court has upheld any political parties right to choose their candidate however they want.
IT DOES NOT NEED TO EVEN RESEMBLE DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPALS.
So the Republicans have one set of rules for the selection process and the Democrats have another. And the “Party” bosses are indeed the bosses. The processes are fraught with historical baggage including a lot of ways to try to keep the “voter” from making a mistake.
This link bares this in a way I am sure very few really understand, especially those who think their vote counts as much as any other. Bill Clinton has two votes, one counts for next to nothing like any individual vote in a pure democracy with a large population of voters. But the other, additional vote counts as 1 of 800 appointed voters of the just over 2000 required votes to get the Democratic Nomination. Together these 800 or so appointed voters are about 40% of the total required voters. The individual voters like you and I, altogether only count for about 60% of the votes.
Huckabee Wins Anti-McCain Vote in Kansas
