what is Hypocrisy
Perhaps the best AP sports story ever
The U.S.A.-China men’s basketball write-up, earlier this week that is. The lead:
BEIJING (AP) — In one heart pounding minute in the first half, LeBron James dunked off a nifty underhanded feed from Dwyane Wade. Then Kobe Bryant flew in and jammed. Then it was Chris Bosh’s turn to rattle the rim.
As the backboard swayed, some might have recalled the fabled Dream Team. The final score — U.S. 101, China 70 — might also draw comparisons.
Who’s worried about the 7-for-29 shooting from beyond the arc? Just toss it up and throw it down.
And because two people have quoted this excerpt back to me, I figure it’s worth sharing:
China has more than a billion people, but there’s not an elite point guard among them.
Nice job, AP.
Obama’s Ties To Wal-Mart
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1551441/Obama-called-hypocrite-for-wife’s-Wal-Mart-link.html Here is a brief quote from the article above:
Yet, while her style and performance are winning plaudits on the campaign trail, a little-reported business interest of Mrs Obama’s has opened her husband up to one of the criticisms that politicians fear most - the taint of hypocrisy.
Not only does it appear that Hillary Clinton spews Hypocrisy with her association with Wal-Mart but it appears that Senator Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama has ties with the mega corporation too. The article sited in the link above clearly shows Michelle Obama’s ties with Wal-Mart. She quit her medical position in order to support her husbands campaign but she was re-elected to an Illinois based food processing company who’s largest client is Wal-Mart.
It’s funny that this is in direct contrast of what her husband preaches. Senator Obama supports labor Unions yet Wal-Mart will have nothing to do with Unions. Perhaps this type of hypocrisy is similar to his relationship with his pastor. Obama’s pastor clearly doesn’t like white people or America. He clearly supports radicals like Farrakhan. Yet, Obama chose to go to his church and listen to his sermons for 20 years. I believe Obama stated that he doesn’t share the views of the church. Why would he go to a Church he doesn’t share the views of?
Now his wife is directly associated with Wal-Mart. He clearly states he doesn’t support the views of Wal-Mart. Yet, his wife who supports his Campaign and speaks on his behalf is connected with Wal-Mart. Doesn’t everybody see how crazy this is.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/20/us/politics/20walmart.html This article describes Hillary Clinton’s ties to Wal-Mart. She was on the board for 8 years. She still has current ties with them and Bill Clinton created free trade with China, who Wal-Mart is the biggest benifactor in the world from that act.
- Don’t democrats stand against the principals of big business. Wal-MArt is one of the biggest corporation in the world.
- Don’t Democrats stand for pro choice. Walmart phamacy won’t sell the morning after pill.
-
Don’t Democrats support labor Unions. Wal-Mart won’t hire Union Employees.
How can the dempocratic Party Continue To Exist With Such Flip Flopping Hypocrisy. Obama’s entire campaign was to get troops out of Iraq Immediately and now his stance seems similar to what Mccain has said all along. Obama gets money from big corpporations. He supports religious leaders who hate America. He makes predjudicial statements ,” My grandmother was a typical white person.” Yet, he promises false hope of change. His campaign is nothing more than the word change. Nearly everything he says is a flip flop. When he is caught in his flip flops his rebuttle is ,”I don’t think that was what I meant.” Does he not even know what he meant?
I don’t think since John Kerry or perhaps Al Gore or wait, Hillary Clinton has the world seen such a flip flopper. Kerry’s plans of ,”in my plan I will….” What was his plan???????? Al Gore when vice president for clinton stating that Iraq was a nation supporting terrorism and that we need to go to war with them. Then he totally changed his tune when he was running. Hillary one of the biggest War supporters out there flip floppinjg back and forth to what ever group she was speaking to.
Now we Have Obama who flip flops almost daily.
Does no one see the hypocrisy??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Right to Free Speech Doesn’t Make Speech (or Song) Right
Something from the southern end of a northbound horse.
Jazz singer Rene Marie saying, as a black, she “just doesn’t feel American.” substituted the so-called “Black National Anthem” sung to the tune of the Star Spangled banner at Denver’s State of the City ceremonies on July 1st. The Mayor, Council and attendees were stunned by her impudence, and more so when she confessed she’d been secretly planned it for weeks.
The Denver Post reported she had been interviewed by a Russian broadcaster who asked her what it was like to be American. “And I realized I didn’t feel like an American, and that bothered me a great deal,” the singer said. She said she feels like a foreigner sometimes. She also said she did not ask for permission feeling it was her right to artistic expression.
The self-styled “Black National Anthem” was written by James Johnson and first performed more than a century ago. It marked nearly four decades of freedom for blacks in America. It now still appears in some church hymnals as “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” The lyrics of the song are:
Lift ev’ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring.
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise,
High as the list’ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.
The classless stunt has inflamed many provoking harsh criticism and the ire of a broad cross section of people and offers of one-way tickets out of the country for singer Rene Maria. Denver is the site of the Democrat National Convention in August where the first black will likely be the Democrat party nominee for President of the United States, and this incident punctuates a rising sense of racism about the November General election that is already polarized along racial lines.
That STAR-SPANGLED BANNER was written by an amateur poet Francis Scott Key in 1814 as he watched the British Navy bombard Fort McHenry in Chesapeake Bay during the War of 1812. It was originally titled “The Defense of Fort McHenry” and later set to the tune of a popular English drinking song. It became the U. S. national anthem by congressional resolution on March 3, 1931
Obama Joins List of Congressional Home Loan Hypocrites
The Obama campaign is issuing another of its patent if tiresome Hogan’s Heros Sgt Schultz-like “I know nothing; I see nothing” disclaimers.
Barack Obama has been exposed in Wednesday’s July 2 Washington Post, for getting a sweetheart deal when he bought a $1.65 million restored Georgian mansion in an upscale Chicago neighborhood he bought at a $300,000 discount and involves “Tony” Rezko who has been convicted of 16 corruption charges. To finance the mansion, Obama got a super-jumbo $1.32 million loan from Northern Trust in Illinois at a discount that saved the Obamas $108,000 over the course of the 30-year loan.
In addition to the Rezko connection it turns out Northern Trust employees have contributed $71,000 to Obama.
Obama now joins the list of “homeloan hypocrites” including: Sens. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) chairman of the banking committee, who pocketed $77,000 on his bankrupt COUNTRYWIDE loan, Kent Conrad (D-N.D) who bellied up to the COUNTRYWIDE free money through, and former Fannie Mae chief executive James A. Johnson resigned abruptly as head of the vice presidential search committee after his own favorable Countrywide loan became public. So far the Democrat Congress has refused to investigate any of this whether it will shield Obama too is unknown.
The Obama mansion has six bedrooms, four fireplaces, a four-car garage and 5 1/2 baths, including a double steam shower and a marble powder room. It had a wine cellar, a music room, a library, a solarium, beveled glass doors and a granite-floored kitchen.
Defecation Hits Impeller Splattering McCain VP Hopeful Jindal

“People don’t like hypocrisy, and they like somebody with guts.”
Louisiana’s part-time lawmakers passed a pay raise for themselves, more than doubling their salary from $16,800 to $37,500 and the defecation has hit the impeller with thousands of angry letters and emails flooding into state offices, exposing several Legislators who are subjects of recall campaigns, and splattering Governor Bobby Jindal (R) from head to toe because he has resisted vetoing it.
Jindal, who ran partly on a “no pay raise” pledge, is being devastated and it could cost him his chance to be McCain VP designee as the political conflagration spreads over what some are calling his hypocrisy.
Conservative talk-radio host Moon Griffon. Says “I’ve gotten over 5,000 e-mails from people who say they voted for him (Jindal), and who say they would never vote for him again.” He added, “People don’t like hypocrisy, and they like somebody with guts.”
Part ONE - Intro To Advanced Hypocrisy
The end of the primary season provides us hypocrisy scholars with an opportunity to step back and study the Big Picture. We have been witness to breathtaking feats of hypocrisy on all sides of the political spectrum.
We have seen the candidates’ paid spokespersons spin dizzying rings around the truth to equally phony anchors on TV non-news shows that are sponsored by companies that pay huge dollars to other companies to make lying commercials about hair-goo and sexless
sedans. We shall soon see more.
But none of that bothers us much, because it’s mild and harmless hypocrisy, for the most part. When Hillary makes her concession speech Saturday and spends the
next few months playing kissyface with Barack like they never said a bad word or had a bad thought about each other we shan’t be surprised. It’s hypocritical, but it’s the way of the world.
More specifically, it’s the way of the warrior. The closest analogy in “real life” is boxing. Two men who have spent twelve weeks verbally shredding and twelve rounds physically pounding each other into raw, bloody hulks, invariably end the contest with a nice, sweet hug.
Do they mean it? I don’t know, maybe, maybe not. But I wouldn’t have it any other way, whether it’s belts or hats in the ring. Making nice might be phony, even hypocritical, but it’s nice.
That is lesson one in today’s lecture in Advanced Hypocrisy. All hypocrisy is not equal. There are degrees of hypocrisy, from the mild and benign to the vicious and malignant. Some hypocrisy is merely politeness, or method of conflict resolution that allows the winner to feel good and the loser to save face. This is gentle, Level One, hypocrisy. Saying something you don’t quite mean to make someone else feel better may be a hypocritical lie, but it is not evil.
Then there is the case of the bald-faced lie told with the best of intentions. A coke dealer tells his fourteen-year-old daughter that he never, ever smoked dope, and neither should she. This is Level Two hypocrisy. It is well-meaning, but dangerous, because when the truth comes out, as it invariably will, it can do damage. If you lied about the weed maybe you’re lying about the smack, she’ll think.
What these two, mild levels of hypocrisy have in common is that they’re committed to help others, to protect them from the embarrassment of your true thoughts or the danger of your true deeds. They are basically selfless acts—any bad effects they may have are unintentional. But there are darker, more sinister levels of hypocrisy. If Level One is a victimless crime, and Level Two a misdemeanor, the next two levels are manslaughter and murder. Levels Three and Four will be the subject of our next lecture. Bring your sharpest pencils and be ready to take notes.
Things are about to get serious.
What’s it all about. Hypocrisy?
The fine folks over at wisegeek.com says the meaning of hypocrisy was not as tainted in the past as some some today think it is. As the Chief Hypocrite, I don’t think it is so bad……regardless of my personal habits, they say:
“Initially a hypocrite was someone who played a part, acted a part, or dissembled. Hypocrisy was the tool of actors, rhetoricians, and debaters in Ancient Greece. Specifically from rhetoric and debate, we can assign sides of an argument that a person must then take to his/her fullest capacity. We understand the side we take may not represent our true point of view; instead it’s merely a position in an argument that helps us to better understand the sides of an issue.”
It seems to be elected today, due to so much detailed, preserved and replayed press coverage and in an increasingly complex world with clashes of cultures who might not have known about each other in the not too distant past, and with so many single issue voters and bumper stickers (and web sites) is it possible for a politician to be free of hypocrisy?
So, in that sense, I ask myself (and you) what is really different today?
The wisegeek.com really says it better than I and they also have a lot of other really good stuff if you are in the mood to learn something. Book mark them, right after www.hypocrisy.com.
