The Chief Hypocrite, after a partial lifetime of committing high quality hypocrisy, says being a hypocrite may not be so bad, maybe even virtuous, it all depends on the specific actions taken by Public Persons, the large but limited focus of this site and our Users. All Users must determine what Public Person is. Answers.com has this to say.
The devil is always in the details when confronting hypocrisy and of course it is colored by personal biases. By submitting their content, Users will, among other opportunities, opine about the actions of such Public Persons. Users and visitors by using this site agree and accept that we are all hypocrites at some point or points in our endeavors and join those who are willing to “just get over it.” Committing hypocrisy and thus being a hypocrite is really nothing more than a human attribute, an attribute common to all of us as is, friendly, not friendly, loving, hating, fearing, on and on.
This site intends to facilitate the showcasing of hypocrisy where ever USERs find it in the actions of Public Persons and enable discussions. Users are not to submit any hypocrisy or other material about anyone other than Public Persons.
The fine folks over at wisegeek.com says the meaning of hypocrisy was not as tainted in the past as some some today think it is.
“Initially a hypocrite was someone who played a part, acted a part, or dissembled. Hypocrisy was the tool of actors, rhetoricians, and debaters in Ancient Greece. Specifically from rhetoric and debate, we can assign sides of an argument that a person must then take to his/her fullest capacity. We understand the side we take may not represent our true point of view; instead it’s merely a position in an argument that helps us to better understand the sides of an issue.”
It seems to be elected to political office today, due to so much detailed, preserved and replayed press coverage and in an increasingly complex world with clashes of cultures who might not have known about each other in the not too distant past, and with so many single issue voters and bumper stickers (and web sites) hypocrisy may be difficult to avoid, it it was ever easy.
So is it possible for a politician to be free of hypocrisy?
So, in that sense, I ask myself (and you) what is really different today?
