Seattle reaped the benefit of a $20 million federal grant to weatherize homes in one of America’s “greenest” cities, and 16 months later, a whopping 14 jobs were created - making the cost per job a staggering $1,428,571 each and even they didn’t last.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported on the federal government’s latest environmental hoax:

“As of last week, only three homes had been retrofitted and just 14 new jobs have emerged from the program. Many of the jobs are administrative, and not the entry-level pathways once dreamed of for low-income workers. Some people wonder if the original goals are now achievable.”

A California solar panel manufacturer which President Obama had made the poster child of his effort to expand the green economy and grow jobs has filed for bankruptcy, the company announced Wednesday.

Obama visited Solyndra in May 2010, heralding the company as “leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future.” He also cited it as a success story from the government’s $787 billion economic stimulus package.

Turns out the company could not attract private capital and cancelled an IPO then failed to get $700 million in federal loan guarantees was suddenly shuttered on Wednesday.

In 2009, the Obama administration fast-tracked Solyndra’s loan application, later awarding it $535 million in guarantees from the stimulus funds.

The deal later came under scrutiny from independent government watch dogs and members of Congress, which said the administration had bypassed key taxpayer protections in a rush to approve the funds - claims the administration has denied.

The Energy Department initially estimated that government financing for Solyndra would help create more than 4,000 jobs. Now there are none and taxpayer watchdog groups are screaming for heads to roll over what looks like a version of a ponzi scheme played with taxpayer money.

Barely a week ago another Obama touted similar scheme collapsed and it was learned it had sent its jobs to China. Solyandra’s employees are on the street,

The cost for the failing agency is $6,800,000,000 (6.8 billion) in 2011.

Worldwide consumer confidence is scrapping the bottom of the barrel the level dropped 15% in the last month.

I fully expect Obama to launch a full scale class warfare campaign with his post-Labor Day “jobs” speech blasting Republicans for molly coddling the “rich” while pushing the poor deeper into the muck and mire in an all out effort for reelection even if it means tearing America apart.

His 2008 “Hope and Change” mantra is dead as a doornail and those words and images are  consigned to the ash heap except among the fartherest leftwing, and few of them want to risk inflaming the “independent” great unwashed voters lest they awaken a remorse for electing Obama on his wing and a prayer platform that has been a domestic and foreign flop.

The most recent Gallup poll put Obama’s approval rating at an all time low of just 38%. Were it not for the overwhelming support from black voters that approval number would be even lower.

There’s only one thing in politics you do when you’re that low,” experts say,. “You try to bloody the other guy up just as much as you can.

The Park 51 group, that wants to build an Islamic community center and mosque a stone’s throw the site of the 9-11 terrorist attack that brought down the World Trade Center killing nearly 3,000 - has requested $5 million in taxpayer subsidy from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. Created in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, the LMDC is charged with planning and coordinating the rebuilding and revitalization of Lower Manhattan Island. The LMDC was funded through the disbursement of Community Development Block Grants-amounting to $2.783 billion-and approved by the federal government.

In May 2006, New York’s Attorney General, then Governor the disgraced Elliot Spitzer unequivocally condemned the LMDC as an “abject failure” in its capacity as an agent for rebuilding lower Manhattan. He also attributed the departure of Gretchen Dykstra from a group raising money for the World Trade Center memorial to a process where “there was nobody willing to make decisions.”

Spitzer became Governor in 2007, rethought his condemnation, and announced a “reinvigorated LMDC” that would continue the revitalization of Lower Manhattan. Mayor Bloomberg welcomed the Governor’s renewed interest at the time. However, in September 2008, Mayor Bloomberg condemned the LMDC as a contributor to the slow progress in rebuilding and he demanded dissolution of the LMDC.

A apparently tone-deaf Mayor Bloomberg, a Jew, inexplicably  issued an encyclical banning clergy and forbidding prayer at next week’s 10^th year memorial service at the 9-11 site. Bloomberg has supported the right of Muslims to build Park51, a 13-story community center two blocks from the site, saying he “shouldn’t be in the business of picking” one religion over another. It must be noted that building a church, temple of mosque with public (taxpayer subsidized funds) raises fundamental Constitutional issues.

The most prominent religious leader in the city, Roman Catholic archbishop Timothy Dolan, said he would celebrate Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral on the morning of September 11 and then go to St. Peter’s Church which is a short walk from Ground Zero.

The White House will not be sending a representative to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 112th National Convention in San Antonio, Texas, drawing harsh criticism and a rebuke from the leadership of the nation’s largest combat veteran’s organization.

Barack Obama’s uncle Onyango Obama, 67,  was arrested last week in Framingham, Mass for driving drunk after police said he made a rolling stop and nearly caused a cruiser to strike his SUV.

Police said that when asked if he wanted to make a phone call, Obama said: “I think I will call the White House.”

A spokesman for Cleveland immigration attorney Margaret Wong, who is representing him, confirmed that the 67-year-old is the president’s uncle. Onyango was born in Kenya.

He is being held without bail on a detainer as an illegal alien by ICE.

A few months ago Obama’s aunt also in the USA illegally won the right to stay in the country after a protracted court process.

At the dedication for the new Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial in Washington, D.C. last week, the civil rights leader’s daughter made an astonishingly stupid remark regarding Abraham Lincoln. According to her, Lincoln is best known for signing the Declaration of Independence. It is notable that she was reading from a teleprompter begging the answer of who wrote the abomination, and why she didn’t correct it.

“But as I close, I close with the recognition that daddy is standing, Lincoln is seated,” Bernice King said. “Lincoln remembered for signing the Declaration of Independence. Daddy being remembered as standing up for truth and standing up for justice and standing up for righteousness and standing up for peace and standing up for freedom. Daddy is now standing on the National Mall in our nation’s capital.”

In fact Lincoln (1809-1865) signed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing the slaves and sealing his fate by assassination and was not yet born when the Declaration was signed.

MLK’s statue is 11 feet taller than either Jefferson’s or Lincoln’s statues on the national mall and the total scope of his memorial exceeds both men’s memorials. Lei Yixin, a 57-year-old master sculptor from Changsha in Hunan province carved the statue in China  the “Stone of Hope” was shipped in pieces to Baltimore and then to Washington DC where it was assembled by a squad including ten stone masons flown to the US from China.

Many studies have shown that being ugly is actually an economic disadvantage: it’s a fact that good looking people make more money than ugly ones.

But if you’ve got a face that only a mother could love, take heart. Economics professor Daniel S. Hamermesh of the University of Texas at Austin - who will never win a beauty contest — has a legal solution: affirmative action for ugly people!

Why this disparate treatment of looks in so many areas of life? It’s a matter of simple prejudice. Most of us, regardless of our professed attitudes, prefer as customers to buy from better-looking salespeople, as jurors to listen to better-looking attorneys, as voters to be led by better-looking politicians, as students to learn from better-looking professors. This is not a matter of evil employers’ refusing to hire the ugly: in our roles as workers, customers and potential lovers we are all responsible for these effects.

How could we remedy this injustice? With all the gains to being good-looking, you would think that more people would get plastic surgery or makeovers to improve their looks. Many of us do all those things, but as studies have shown, such refinements make only small differences in our beauty. All that spending may make us feel better, but it doesn’t help us much in getting a better job or a more desirable mate.

A more radical solution may be needed: why not offer legal protections to the ugly, as we do with racial, ethnic and religious minorities, women and handicapped individuals?

Remember Obama’s Midwest “bus” tour? He bought two identical buses painted black for $1.1 million each from a Canadian company even though there are several American custom bus companies, and despite telling the nation to Buy American . Then he loaded them into a C-17 cargo plane and flew them with Obama’s limos and a gaggle of secret service vehicles into and out of each speech location only riding in one of the buses to and from regional airports. Thet cost ten and tens of millions.

The faddish obsession with “green jobs” is being revealed as a massive waste of taxpayer money.

Pipe dreams eventually are revealed for what they are - unrealistic, wishful thinking. It didn’t take long for Spain’s touted green-job revolution to be revealed as a financial disaster, siphoning taxpayer subsidies and destroying 2.2 other jobs for every green job created.

Domestic green-job pipe dreams similarly drain U.S. taxpayers’ money into economic sink holes. The millions of so-called green jobs promised by President Barack Obama and other champions of taxpayer-subsidized energy schemes not only haven’t materialized, many that did, already are disappearing.

It’s truly a bad sign for the green-job revolution when failure becomes obvious even to acolytes.

“All this talk about the green jobs never materialized,” liberal Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of Los Angeles recently complained.

The New York Times rubbed salt in the wound when it reported in July that the nonpartisan Brookings Institution found clean-technology jobs accounted for only 2 percent of jobs nationwide. “Federal and state efforts to stimulate creation of green jobs have largely failed, government records show,” according to a Times article from a San Francisco news outlet.

Considering the president’s pledge to create 5 million green jobs in 10 years and California Gov. Jerry Brown’s promised 500,000 clean-technology jobs by the end of the decade, it’s worth noting the New York Times’ conclusion: “(T)he results so far suggest such numbers are a pipe dream.”

Lowlights of the saga include the recent bankruptcy of Evergreen Solar Inc. of Massachusetts, recipient of $58 million in direct subsidies and tax breaks, including federal “stimulus” funding, but which cut 800 jobs and is now $485 million in debt, with more job losses to come with the closure of a Michigan plant. Green Vehicles of Salinas, Calif., received $500,000 in city subsidies, but closed last month without having produced anything of significance, Human Events magazine reported. The company had promised to create 70 jobs and pay back local taxpayers $700,000 a year in taxes.

Seattle got a $20 million federal grant to weatherize 2,000 homes and create 2,000 jobs. After a year, three homes had been retrofitted and 14 new jobs created, many of them administrative. That’s a return on investment of about one job per $1.4 million. In Michigan, Fisher Coachworks is out of business two years after being touted as part of the state’s green future, and despite millions in state subsidies to sell buses bought with federal tax money.

The U.S. Forest Service awarded $490,000 in stimulus funding to Urban Forestry Revitalization Project in Clark County, Nev., to plant trees and other greenery in urban neighborhoods. It created 1.7 jobs, one of them a full-time temporary job, and 11 short-term and temporary.

Overall, estimates the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Chris Horner, $30 billion in green handouts in the stimulus bill cost taxpayers about $475,000 per job.

Almost no amount of tax subsidy can make consumers purchase something they don’t want. When they don’t, the enterprise is doomed to fail. Rather than prop up such failures with tax money, governments at all levels should allow taxpayers to find productive uses for their money.

California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown has supposedly pledged to sign AB 131 (the Dream Act).  It would grant qualified undocumented immigrants access to public funding normally reserved for legal residents to pursue a college education in California. Dream Act proponents maintain that enacting it would contribute to the overall betterment of our society at relatively little cost.

An new report finds that the CEO’s of the top American companies are paid more than those pay in taxes and revelation that will almost certainly fan the Obama’s administration efforts to pit America against itself in what is almost certain to erupt as an  open class war provoked by Obama, racists and socialist provocateurs. They also pay more to lobbyist than in taxes.

Racist members of the Black Congressional Caucus have accused TEA PARTY members of saying the TEA PARTY members want to see them hanging from trees. So far no one has produced a r ecord of any such statement.  The only Republican member of the black caucus has threatened to quit over the racist behavior.

Obama thoughtlessly wanted to deliver his so-called jobs speech to  a joint session of Congress at the same evening of a network broadcast of a GOP candidates debate at the the Reagan Library but changed it. Now he is going to speak in competition with the NFL opener when the superbowl champion Green Bay Packers and Mew Orleans Saints open the NFL season.

The only issue is who is running this rampaging railroad that has jumped its tracks. Wednesday Obama starting talking about “shovel ready” jobs again - so far the only thing “shovel ready” has been Obama’s digging America’s grave.

Watch for Obama’s speech to be upstaged by the NFL game or the cartoon network rerun.
