Wade Sanders, a retired Navy Captain and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy, who served as a Swift Boat officer in Vietnam. Like Kerry, Sanders was the recipient of a Silver Star for gallantry in action.
During the 2004 campaign, Sanders functioned as Kerry lead attack dog against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, has had his Silver Star Award revoked by the U. S. Navy. Apparently the revocation is unrelated to his being imprisoned for 37-months on child pornography charges. Rather a report in the Nsvy Times says the highly unusual decision appears unrelated to Sanders’ felony conviction but, a Navy spokesman cited “subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself.” In other words somebody lied
John Kerry has to be hoping this doesn’t become a trend.
As one might imagine, the min stream media has ignored this story.
Walter Reed Medical Center, opened in 1904, will soon close its doors after providing care for Presidents and privates. That care will not stop but the location has to because of its age and condition.
The post office managed to lose $21,000,000 a day no small fete and plans on closing 3,563 non performing post offices is a step in the right direction. But, until the postal worker’s union can be reigned in deficits will continue. The postal union boss calls, a pay increase for his 200,000 members an “entitlement”: Those “highlty skilled” letter carriers will soon be paid $100,000 a year to schlep utility bills and advertising circulars to your home.
Almost since America’s founding Congressmen have toiled to earmark funds for post offices that have literally no business reason to exist. For a century monster post offices were built at or near city centers. Most of those are virtually empty like the one in downtown Santa Barbara that is for sale.
Union leaders and elected officials held a march and rally Wednesday to save 17 Bronx,New York post offices that are being considered for closure claiming all sorts of meyhem if they are closed. Ahem.
“The receptivity of the masses to information is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must repeat these until the lowest member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogans. In a story that was thought to be resolved a Texas lawmaker is calling for a Congressional investigation into the Houston National Cemetery after he went undercover and determined that cemetery officials are still preventing Christian prayers at the funerals of military veterans.
The Obama administration continues to try to prevent the words ‘God’ and Jesus Christ from being used at the funerals of veterans during memorial services before burial at the second lrgest national cemetery at Houston. Rep. John Culberson (R-TX). Says “It’s unacceptable and I’m going to put a stop to it as fast as humanly possible.” Culberson damnded that the chapel’s conversion into a storage building and returned to its intended purpose was successful - for now.
Culberson told Fox News Radio he attended a burial service at the cemetery under cover on July 8 where he said volunteer members of the honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars were prohibited from using any references to God.
“The Obama administration had told the nation and me they were not interfering with the prayer said over the graves of veterans,” he said. “And I went undercover to personally verify that claim.”
V.A. officials have strongly denied they’ve banned any religious speech - and have offered support for Arleen Ocasio, the cemetery’s director. Technically the Veteran Administration is not denying the word’s use blaming it on the Houston Director even thought she is a VA deirector.
The Congressman and others believe the directive has come directly from humanist Obama’s White House. Whether an investigation will confirm or reject that is a central reason for his call for a formal investigation.
In an astonishing moment Obama went to the East Room at the White House and called on the public to call Congress and insist on a plan that he did not describe or even suggest,
An email request to Lisa Jackson. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director asking how much is being spent on a national TV ad campaign urging “Save the EPA” and why is it being spent has gone unanswered.
The former head of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Obama transition team member is the first African-American EPA chief. Supporters have praised her work ethic, approachability and efforts to regulate greenhouse gases in New Jersey.
But Jackson’s critics, including a senior scientist who quit her department in frustration, say she withheld information from the public and has fallen well short of the pledge she made when taking office in to fix the state’s beleaguered toxic waste program. Others say lack of even fundamental science background put her immediately over her head in a very technical post.

The city of Salinas had invested more than half a million taxpayer dollars in Green Vehicles, an electric car start-up company. The start-up company set up shop in Salinas in the summer of 2009, after the city gave it a $300,000 community development grant.
When the company still ran into financial trouble last year, the city of Salinas handed it an additional $240,000. Green Vehicles also received $187,000 from the California Energy Commission.
Last year, Salinas city officials said they were excited about Green Vehicles moving from San Jose to Salinas because they wanted to turn Salinas into a hub for alternative energy production.
City leaders wooed Green Vehicles to jump-start the sputtering local company and turn Salinas into an “electric valley.” Donohue and Weir both voiced their high hopes for Green Vehicles.
The start-up company promised city leaders that it would create 70 new jobs and pay $700,000 in taxes a year to Salinas.
Green Vehicles was supposed to be up and running by March 2010 inside their 80,000-square-foot space at Firestone Business Park off of Abbot Street.
The company’s CEO say it made three mistakes he made while steering his company into a brick wall. All three reasons boiled down failing to generate enough capital.

Iran has reported the downing of a U.S. unmanned aerial vehicle on patrol over an underground nuclear site.
The incident ocured near Fordu nuclear facility near Qom. They did not identify the UAV or say when it was downed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Teheran said Fordu, located underneath a mountain, would become a major center for the production of enriched uranium.
Iran said the UAV was snooping to gather data on the enrichment facility.
Ironically Iran’s confirmation labels Fordu as a nuclear weapons sit moving it up on the target list.
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a report Tuesday containing new testimony and allegations in the ATF gunwalker case. According to the report, Carlos Canino, Acting ATF Attache in Mexico, calls the strategy his agency employed: “The perfect storm of idiocy.”
“We armed the [Sinaloa] cartel,” Canino told investigators. “It is disgusting.” Canino will be a key witness at the hearing.
Documents obtained by Congressional investigators show weapons - sold under ATF’s watch in Operation Fast and Furious out of the Phoenix office - have been used by at least three Mexican drug cartels: Sinaloa, El Teo and La Familia.
The first large recovery of weapons sold to suspected drug cartel traffickers under ATF’s watch was on Nov. 20, 2009 in Naco, Sonora, Mexico. All 42 weapons (41 AK-47s and a giant .50 caliber rifle) traced back to Fast and Furious suspects. Some had been bought, turned around and delivered to the cartel practically overnight.
Yet ATF allowed the acquisitions and dealings to continue for more than a year, until December of last year, when Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered. Two Fast and Furious assault rifles were recovered at the murder scene.
Most believe the White House and Attorney General Holder will be directly implicated in what started out as a grandstanding scheme to show The Obama gang were effectively involved in a proactive solution to the plague of drugs abd violence that is a disaster in Mexico and has spread into the U. S. All this while Obama is urging the Latino activist group LaRaza to increase pressure to grant citizenship to millions of illegal aliens.
McDonald’s 14,000 restaurants will downsize french fries and put a fresh fruit or veggie in every Happy Meal. Apple slices have long been an option with the Happy Meal. But the problem has been that parents have to ask for them in lieu of french fries. That’s about to change.
McDonald’s says today it’s changing Happy Meals by cutting the portion size of french fries by more than half - to 1.1 ounces from 2.4 ounces. McDonald’s is considering lots of new choices, including “pineapple spears, raisins and carrot sticks - is McBroccoli just around the corner? Parhaps a third of McDonald’s profits come from the Boxed Meals with a smile on it and a toy in it.
Iranian intelligence experts in Damascus have been disrupting the Syrian opposition movement’s telephone and Internet links with the outside world and among fellow-protesters in the country. To bridge the communications gap, the US and Saudi Arabia have in the last two weeks smuggled thousands of satellite phones into Syria and put them in the hands of opposition leaders,
The new phones will also overcome the latest Syrian steps, also on the advice of their Iranian advisers, to slow down the speed of the Internet to impede the transmission of images - most of all live video - of brutal attacks by Syrian security and military forces on protesters.
US and Saudi intelligence services are picking up the tab for the satellite phones and have given the providers a free hand to place no limits on their use.
This is the first time the Obama administration has stepped in with direct assistance for the Syrian opposition in its drive to unseat Syrian President Bashar Assad - in way, moreover, that challenges Iran’s contribution to the regime’s survival. Heretofoe Obama has been ambiguous at best.
Monday, July 25, Washington also ramped up its criticism of the Assad regime: “The behavior of security forces, including such other barbaric shootings, wide scale arrests of young men and boys, brutal torture and other abuses of basic human rights, is
Clearly Iran has staked out its position is reprehensible,” said a State Department spokesman.
The Saudis have gone still further: On July 19, a new television station “Shabab Syria” (Syrian Youth), financed by Riyadh, went on the air and began broadcasting anti-Assad opposition’s messages to all parts of the country.
Iran has declared it supports Syria to preserve the Shi’ite crescent staking out its position against Sunni Islam potentially setting up sectarian war within Islam.pitting tey Sauds against Iran’s Mullah’s.
Approximately 40% of the U.S. paper currency in circulation was counterfeit by the end of the Civil War. The Secret Service was established then to combat counterfeiting not as a result of Lincoln’s Assasination as many say including at least one major printer of American school textbookls.
Iran is providing weapons, technology and advisers to help President Bashar Assad quell the revolt in Syria,
Iran regards Syria as a vital asset in Teheran’s strategy of dominating the Levant, Middle East Newsline reported. The report said the loss of Syria, regarded as the weak link in Teheran’s sphere of influence, would sever the so-called Shi’ite crescent, which extends from Iran to Lebanon.
The report said IRGC has brought advisers from Iranian police and law enforcement to help Assad quell the pro-democracy demonstrations. IRGC’s Quds Brigade, led by Brig. Gen. Qassam Suleimani, was also said to have brought Hizbullah fighters to Syria as well as members of Iran’s Basij militia.
“With the outbreak of protest in Syria, the IRGC dispatched special emissaries, commanders of the Basij - volunteer forces of the IRGC that also repressed the uprising in Iran - to Damascus to help Assad,” the report said. “Having gained experience from the violent and so far successful repression of the Iranian protest wave following the controversial elections of 2009, Iran is sending advisers from its domestic security body, the Law Enforcement Services and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to help its ally and important member of the resistance camp stay afloat.”
The report said should Iran fail then the fall of the Assad regime would herald the end of Arab nationalism. Segall said this could lead to the formation of a new Arab or Islamic identity shaped by Iran and Turkey.
“In the shadow of the growing assertiveness of Shi’ite Iran and Sunni Turkey, both of which seek a great-power role, the Arab world finds itself divided and lacking any guiding paradigm as the old order falls apart,” the report said.
The report said Iran fears NATO intervention in Syria, particularly via neighboring Turkey. Segall also cited reports of Hizbullah fighters killed when they fired at protesters.
Among the equipment Iran was to have relayed included logistics systems, sniper rifles and Nokia Siemens Networks meant to disrupt the Internet. Over the last decade, Iran has acquired NSN’s Lawful Interception Management System, designed to monitor and disrupt communications. In all, Iran was said to have transferred $6 billion worth of equipment to Damascus.
“Essentially, Iran is fully committed to helping Syria,” the report said. “At present it appears that Iran is mobilizing all the means at its disposal to protect its strategic ally Syria. At the same time, it is probably already examining ways to retain its influence over a post-Assad Syria, and it may come to view Iraq, after U.S. forces withdraw, as a fitting alternative for its ongoing subversive activity in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.”
Some folks are “addicted to bleaching their teeth. There is even a new word for such obcessives - Bleachoexics as they are called can actually destroy their teeth to try to get that pearly white smile. In some extreme examples the junkies wear the enamel off their teeth resulting in discoloration and even pain.
In ancient times it was the fashion to scrub teeth with “morning urine.” Because urine contains a high concentration of uric acid. Over time the enamel was eatend away leaving the devotee in permanent pain although it did whiten teeth.
The history of smiles is, of course, as long as the history of man. Before speech, there was always that international universal language - the smile. Everybody knows what a smile means. Everybody knows how important a smile is. And everybody knows that if we don’t brush our teeth, our smile won’t be so attractive. But teeth and smiles haven’t always been as bright as they are today. Way back then, people didn’t have the means that we have today to keep their teeth white. They used some pretty crude methods of teeth whitening. So let’s look back at the history of teeth whitening and find out how people did keep their teeth white.
In 3000 BC there were toothbrushes. Well, they weren’t what we know as toothbrushes today. And they didn’t call them toothbrushes, either. They called them “chew sticks”. They were actually just small branches, with one end frayed. They’d rub them on their teeth to scrape off any particles.
The first bristle toothbrushes, similar to what we use today, were used in China around 1498. The bristles were made from the tough hair on the back of Siberian hogs’ necks stuck into bamboo handles.
Louis Pasteur, the French bacteriologist, introduced the idea of germs, that people took any notice of what they were putting into their mouths. But when they started to think about what could be on the bristles from the animals, and how their gums could get infected from the bacteria, then a replacement was sought. But it wasn’t until many years later that one was found.
Du Pont discovered nylon in 1938 and by 1950 a suitable nylon tooth brush was introduced. In 1961 the Squibb Company introduced the Broxodent, the first electric toothbrush.
Whitening kits, chewing gums and gadgets came along in the 1990s and here we are with a new sort of obsession.
The Great Pyramids circa 2560 BC used to be as white as snow because they were encased in a bright, polished limestone that has worn off or been stolen over those 4,500 years.
Hanoi Jane Fonda, 74, has been humbled. Recently, the home shopping channel QVC canceled a scheduled appearance by the Septuagenarian actress was supposed to discuss her latest book, “Prime Time.” She is shocked and angry that QVC disinvited her because of mounting public opposition. Fonda disgraced herself by her treasonous consorting with the North Vietnamese Army as it was killing Americans, and QVC viewers spontaneously raising hell when she was scheduled to promote her book.
“The network said they got a lot of calls,” Ms. Fonda wrote on her personal blog, “criticizing me for my opposition to the Vietnam War and threatening to boycott the show if I was allowed to appear.” She added: “I am, to say the least, deeply disappointed that QVC caved to this kind of insane pressure by some well-funded and organized political extremist groups.”
QVC is right. In fact, they should never have invited her in the first place. Ms. Fonda did more than oppose the Vietnam War: She actively aided and abetted the enemy. Like many in the anti-war ’60s left, she was a traitor who openly supported the North Vietnamese communists. For years, Ms. Fonda has sought to cynically and mendaciously obfuscate her moral culpability.
Clans of long ago that wanted to get rid of their unwanted people without killing them used to burn their houses down — hence the statement “to get fired.”
Ten years into his record-breaking philanthropic push for school reform, Bill Gates is sober-and willing to admit missteps.
“It’s been about a decade of learning,” says the Microsoft co-founder whose Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is now the nation’s richest charity. Its $34 billion in assets is more than the next three largest foundations (Ford, Getty and Robert Wood Johnson) combined, and in 2009 it handed out $3 billion, or $2 billion more than any other donor. Since 2000, the foundation has poured some $5 billion into education grants and scholarships.
“But the overall impact of the intervention, particularly the measure we care most about-whether you go to college-it didn’t move the needle much,– maybe 10%,” foundation folks say.
The reality is that the Gates Foundation met the same resistance that other sizeable philanthropic efforts have encountered while trying to transform dysfunctional urban school systems run by powerful labor unions and a top-down government monopoly provider.
In the 1970s, the Ford, Carnegie and Rockefeller foundations, among others, pushed education “equity” lawsuits in California, New Jersey, Texas and elsewhere that led to enormous increases in state expenditures for low-income students. In 1993, the publishing mogul Walter Annenberg, hoping to “startle” educators and policy makers into action, gave a record $500 million to nine large city school systems. Such efforts made headlines but not much of a difference in closing the achievement gap.
“I applaud people for coming into this space, but unfortunately it hasn’t led to significant improvements,” Bill Gates says. He also warns against overestimating the potential power of philanthropy. “It’s worth remembering that $600 billion a year is spent by various government entities on education, and all the philanthropy that’s ever been spent on this space is not going to add up to $10 billion. So it’s truly a rounding error.”
“Reforming (improving) public education is similar to reforming the railroad unions that insisted on keeping fireman on locomotives long, long after diesel power made them worthless. Teacher are fond of adopting an “I/we know”, and “only I/we do know posture.” Demanding fewer teaching days, less classroom hours, increaed personal days off and more time off while salaries and benefits have rocketed out of sight as outcomes have tumbled.
Of late, the foundation has been working on a personnel system that can reliably measure teacher effectiveness. Teachers have long been shown to influence students’ education more than any other school factor, including class size and per-pupil spending. So the objective is to determine scientifically what a good instructor does.
Whether the Gate’s billion can positively affect public eduction remains an open issue. So far they nor anyone else have and all the others have given up.
For more than 3,000 years, Carpenter ants have been used n India, Asia and South America to close wounds. Their jaws pinch the skin together like a staple or suture and when their head are severed their jaws lock closing the wound until heal. A Navy mdic told me this but I figured then he was just drunk.
Why does Obama allow America is stare down the barrel of OPEC’S loaded gun?
The de facto leader of OPEC today is militant muslim Iran, whose influence grows with each passing month. Whether we know it or not, America is staring into the guns of OPEC.
A recent simulation called Securing America’s Future Energy declared that the United States lacks effective energy policy responses in the event of another OPEC embargo.
The Heritage Foundation, which is made up of current and former government officials and diplomats, reported that protracted turmoil in principal OPEC countries has the potential to cause a sharp decline in oil production and an acute price spike.
The crisis game they played was called Oil ShockWave, and it took place in The Ritz-Carlton ballroom a stone’s throw from the White House.
At the conclusion of the simulation, participants acknowledged America had become hostage to its need for oil, yet they couldn’t quite seem to break away.Consider these weird facts:
- The United States of America has more oil than any other country in the world that we know of. We have simply been holding ourselves back from producing that oil. I think it is time to really get the message to Congress that it is time to start producing.”
- When is Obama going to wake up to the impending crisis? It may already be too late, and if Muslim guns turn on the Saudi Royal family itself, it will be far too late - not just for the House of Saud for but the United States.
The threat of soaring energy costs has been swept under the rug by a President and a Congress that want us to be mesmerized by the “debt crisis.”
Yet here America sits voluntarily staring down the gun loaded with $8 per gallon gasoline and the mullahs in Iran have their finger on the trigger while a grinning Obama postures and preens. I am unwilling, just yet, to indict him fgor risking America in favor of Muslim domination but, I do say he is far to sympoathetic to Islam and far too unsympathetic to America’s needs.
Norway’s prime minister repudiated violence but affirmed free expression on Wednesday, asserting that Norwegians, despite the trauma of the massacre of 76 people last week, would emerge from their grief intent on maintaining an inclusive society. The mass killer can only be sentenced to a maximum pirson term of 21 years.
