Your body produces a billion new cells every day. So most of you is only ten years old at any one moment in time. Every sentient being creates a detailed map of its world. Manta Rays can remember the every changing currents; The issue is when or if Humans can create an exact duplicate of the human brain will that include a soul? That discussion involves consciousness. and of course implies creating an “artificial” soul. There are those who believe the soul is a compiled event not an individual one. Last week and last night the Science Channel proposed such issues in a many hours program featuring Morgan Freeman. It is worth finding and watching.

Sources said the White House has been debating a proposed initiative in which Obama would visit Iran and declare rapprochement with the mullah regime according to a report by Middle East Newsline citing sources who requested anonymity.
The sources said Obama’s leading advisers have argued that such a dramatic move would mark a legacy for a president whose prospects for re-election in 2012 appeared to be rapidly fading.
“The idea is that the president does with Iran what Nixon did with China - a reconciliation and dialogue that would recognize Teheran as the leader of the region,” a source familiar with the debate said, according to the report. Such recognition of Iran as regional leader would not be in the best interest of others in the Middle East, A robust debate over the consequences of Nixon’s China policy continues to this day.
Sources said opponents of the proposed initiative toward Iran included senior officials in the National Security Council as well as the Defense Department and State Department. They argued that Iran, which refused to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency, has not demonstrated any willingness to halt such objectionable programs as uranium enrichment and long-range ballistic missile development. Experts say Iran is on the cusp of having refined enough uranium to construct at least four city-busting-sized nuclear warheads.
At this point however, some of Obama’s closest - if most liberal — aides were said to support a U.S. reconciliation with Iran that would allow the Middle East regime to continue with a civilian nuclear program. Of course that is the bugaboo trusting the Mullahs not to build nuke bombs.
The sources cited such administration advisers as uber leftists Valerie Jarret, Samantha Power and U.S. envoy to the United Nations Susan Rice, who want a U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan to pave the way for a rapprochement with Teheran.
The sources said the president’s wife, Michelle, has also endorsed the reconciliation proposal. Others wonder who care what she thinks. They said proponents have argued that this was Obama’s only option to achieve a breakthrough in U.S. foreign policy before the 2012 elections that could buoy his reelection chances regardless of consequences including perception of further abandonment of regional allies
“There is a huge debate in the White House on this,” one source said.
The big story driving all of this is Obama’s alarm over his failure to raise funds for his re-election campaign. A key is Jews of the Democratic Party, once deemed the biggest supporters of Obama, now donating at a rate of no more than eight cents on the dollar of that given in 2008. The recent White House visit of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was an unmitigated disaster and fund raising is just the first casualty.
If White House fundraising efforts remain terpid Obama’s foreign policy could veer sharply from the status quo if he becomes convinced that he would lose in 2012 and there are signs that has already begun. Reportedly there is an increasing number of Democratic Party leaders considering asking the president not to run.
“Obama has both severe political and legal problems in winning a second term,” said a consultant, who, like the others interviewed, did not want to be named.
“If he feels he will lose anyway, Obama will follow a foreign and maybe even domestic policy that will be very controversial,” the consultant said.
“The idea is to show the president as a peacemaker who was stopped by the Republicans and other opponents in Congress.”

American main stream media is deceiving its public by trying to white wash how seriously flawed and dangerous Obama’s inept foreign policy has become.
Peter Falk, the actor that played the rumpled detective Columbo on TV has died at 83. He reportedly suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. The five-time Emmy winner also was nominated for two Academy Awards. He starred in the TV series that ran from 1968 to 2003.
In a front page story about a major FBI terrorism investigation, The Washington Post has reported that the targets include “Chicagoans who “crossed paths with Obama when he was a young state senator and some who have been active in labor unions that supported his political rise.” The implication is that the trail could lead to the White House. Will the FBI pursues this trail or not remains an open question.
This is an unusual investigation that does not primarily involve Islamists. Instead, it is focused on elements of the old international communist networks that many people mistakenly thought had faded away with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Those under investigation are suspected of providing support to foreign terrorist organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the Middle East, a Marxist group. The Post called them “Colombian and Palestinian groups designated by the U.S. government as terrorists.”
The investigations came into public view last September when the FBI raided the homes of several “activists,” as the Post called them. Some lived in Chicago.
One of the targets, Tom Burke, was a union organizer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) a union representing public employees.. He was so confident he would get an easy ride from the Post that he provided the paper with a photo of himself shaking hands with Barack Obama. The other apparent intention was to send a message to the president and Attorney General Eric Holder that any investigation of Burke might lead to Obama.
The Post suggested that investigations of labor union activists might jeopardize their support for Obama’s 2012 presidential run. Indeed, it could therefore threaten his re-election bid, if investigations determine that the activists did more than “cross paths” with the president.
Deep inside the article, in the 29th paragraph, we find out that some of the “activists” are associated with a group known as the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), a Marxist-Leninist organization. Burke is a member of the FRSO, which the Post admitted was “far left.”
The obvious question is why Obama, as a state senator in Illinois, would ever have “crossed paths” with such people. The answer goes beyond just union support for the candidate. The “far-left” networks that include the FRSO, the Communist Party USA, the New American Movement, and the Democratic Socialists of America backed and even spawned Obama’s political career. Don’t forget that Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn hosted a fundraiser for Obama’s first run for political office.
The same networks also backed CIA Director Leon Panetta’s career when he was a congressman from Santa Cruz, California. This helps explain why Obama would pick Panetta, with no intelligence background, to run the intelligence agency. They are cut from the same cloth.
Nevertheless, on Tuesday, the Senate voted 100-0 in favor of Panetta’s nomination as Secretary of Defense. It was a classic case of “head in the sand” politics, ignoring not only Panetta’s long-time relationship with Communist Party member Hugh DeLacy but his record as a congressman in undercutting then-President Reagan’s pro-defense policies at every turn.
Obama and Panetta were players in the “progressive” community, which since the days of Henry Wallace, presidential candidate of the Progressive Party, has had a red tint.
Obama had his own communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist Party member under FBI investigation for 19 years, while Panetta gave DeLacy, who had traveled to China to meet with Soviet and Chinese intelligence agents, sensitive reports on U.S. military matters. Any notion that Panetta had no awareness of DeLacy’s Communist affiliation was obliterated when Panetta in 1983 inserted a tribute to DeLacy into the Congressional Record, praising his resistance to “McCarthyism.”
Former FBI agent Max Noel once said that the Bureau used to investigate candidates for federal employment by analyzing Character, Associates, Reputation, and Loyalty to the United States. The first letters in those words make up the acronym CARL. By the standard of “A” - Associates - Panetta flunks. But so does Obama.
As the FBI does not vet presidential candidates for national security purposes, we know there would have been no FBI investigation into Obama’s own background, associations, loyalty, and overall fitness for office. The FBI only probes those being considered for some federal positions under the president. They should have therefore investigated Panetta. But there is no indication that he was ever properly vetted. Now he is confirmed as Secretary of Defense because conservative Republican Senators were apparently afraid of being accused of McCarthyism for questioning his past associations.
On the other hand, the “progressives” are raising hell with Obama and want him to rein in the FBI. They want to further emasculate the agency charged with ferreting out subversives and terrorist support networks.
As the Post noted, “nine members of Congress have written letters to the administration” complaining about the FBI probe of Burke and other activists. The Post even noted that another one of the targets of the investigation, a union organizer named Tracy Molm, managed to arrange a meeting with Holder himself.
One of these congressional members is Muslim Rep. Keith Ellison, the foremost critic of Rep. Peter King’s hearings into radical Islam in America. “Shortly after the raids,” Ellison said, “I made inquiries to the FBI field office for more information. FBI Special Agent Boelter confirmed that an investigation was ongoing. He says that due to the pending nature of the investigation, he was prohibited from sharing any further information. However he gave me assurance that the purpose of the searches and service of subpoenas was not to punish or to suppress protected First Amendment activity.”
Pro-Marxist activist Medea Benjamin has said she managed to have a few words with Holder as well to complain about the probes. She is with the Code Pink group that travels to Gaza to meet with the terrorist group Hamas. She is also a staunch ally of Adam Kokesh, the “Russia Today” TV star who openly admits that he functions as a paid Russian agent of the Vladimir Putin regime.
Holder is receptive to this kind of appeal because of his friendship with Obama and record as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton Administration for facilitating pardons and clemency for terrorists from the Puerto Rican FALN and Weather Underground. It is this record that puts the current investigations by the FBI in serious jeopardy.
The Post article has to be seen as a signal to Holder from those around Obama that he must act quickly to close down these investigations before they get too close for comfort to the Oval Office. There are reports that the FBI is being pressure to do just that.

Unfortunately for Mr. Obama, Sergeant Monti was killed in Afghanistan in 2006.

The US SPR is the largest emergency supply in the world with the current capacity to hold up to 727 million barrels (115,600,000 m3). Now refiners are bidding on that oil to turn it into gasoline and sell it at retail. This release was coordinated with other countries that also released an equal amount.

Maryland Becomes First State to Require ‘Environmental Literacy’
The Maryland State Board of Education provided specific guidance to all public schools to require that each student be environmentally literate before he or she graduates from high school. The vote cements Maryland as the first state in the country to approve a graduation requirement in environmental literacy.
The state school board vote clarifies for schools that each child must receive a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary environmental education that meets the approval of the State Superintendent of Schools. Regulations given final approval by the board provide critical flexibility and oversight for school systems as they develop effective environmental literacy programs aligned with the Maryland State Environmental Literacy Standards.
While many exemplary environmental education programs already exist in some Maryland schools not all students have access to these programs. That can occur when schools feel compelled to emphasize math and reading instruction over science and other subjects because of the 2002 federal No Child Left Behind law.
With today’s vote school districts must now move beyond standard science courses that provide minimal focus on the environment. The Maryland State Department of Education has established two workgroups to begin revising and aligning Maryland environmental literacy standards, and developing guidelines to provide school systems with guidance and support for implementation.
This vote was the culmination of several years of work. In 2008 Governor O’Malley appointed a special task force to explore how to improve and expand environmental education in the state. Last fall the state board approved an environmental literacy regulation based on the task force’s recommendations. But language in the draft regulation prompted concerns that school districts might be able to meet the new regulations by simply offering existing science and math courses.
Superintendent Grasmick and several school board members quickly reassured the coalition that their intention was to strengthen environmental education, and to require students be environmental literate to graduate.
The board vote positions Maryland-and any other state with a strong environmental literacy plan-to potentially receive federal funding. States sometimes lack resources for staff training in environmental education. Draft legislation called the No Child Left Inside Act soon to be reintroduced in Congress would help provide some federal funding. The bill could be introduced in the near future.

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini called for an immediate halt in hostilities in Libya “to allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians in the country.”Following his announcement to the lower house of parliament in Rome, the government won a confidence vote over a package of tax cuts and an end to Italy’s involvement in the NATO-led military campaign in Libya. Military sources report that since 90 per cent of NATO’s air strikes and operations for enforcing a no-fly zone come from bases and command centers in Italy, Rome’s pullout badly jolts the entire war effort against the Libyan ruler Muammar Qaddafi. France may decide to carry on its air strikes from the French aircraft carrier the Charles de Gaulle and Britain from its air bases in Cyprus. But the operation will be seriously hampered and its prospects of victory against the Qaddafi regime undermined. The only chance of success would depend on US President Barack Obama overruling the Italian decision and restoring the United States to full participation in the coalition’s military assault by operations similar to its Tomahawk missile and air bombardment in the first two weeks of the campaign. However, the White House, already facing overwhelming congressional opposition to any US military involvement in the Libya, would never get its expansion past this wall of resistance.
