Democrat Hochul, 52, the Erie County clerk who turned the campaign into a referendum on the Medicare plan, defeated Republican state legislator Jane Corwin Tuesday, 47 percent to 43 percent, according to the Associated Press tally. The district has been a Republican bastion.

Liberals are cheering the win as vindication of their Medicare approach while Repubicans are grumbling about a Democrat Mediscare approach as stinky.

The reason a Democrat won was Buffalo-area industrialist  who ran on the Tea Party ballot slot, and received 9 percent. Of those votes most were stripped from Corwin.

Looks like former Presidental candidate and nincompoop John Edwrads will be indicted for using campaign contributions to try to coverup an illicit  sexual affair with a campaign aid in pay offs and to rent a plush mansion near Santa Barbara for the woman and a male aide to get him to say he fathered the bastard child.

He and his then wife Elizibeth separated and she succumbed to cancer in December, 2010,

In 2006-07 North Korea’s gangster regime started counterfeiting millions of U. S. 100 dollar bills costing U. S. taxpayers more millions to print new bills which the gangsters quickly copied them. Now the Inspector General’s Office at the Federal  Bureau of Engraving found $5.4 billion in NexGen bills were stored haphazardly in an unlocked room at the Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) facility in Washington, D.C.

No amount of snazzy tricks like color-shifting ink and 3-D ribbons embedded in the new bills will protect them against the old-fashioned security lapses including over 250 employees and 26 unsecured windows with access to piles of shrink wrapped bills openly stored on the floor of the print shop.

Plus it is unclear how long those tens of millions of dollars in developing and printing the new currency will keep ’s falls maybe the best security measure since it will soon be unprofitable to counterfeit U. S. currency.

if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% federal sales tax on it!   That’s $3,800 on  a $100,000 home etc.  When did this happen? It’s in the Obamacare bill.  

FEDERAL Real Estate SALES TAX on home sales will GO INTO EFFECT 2013 (Part of HC Bill) This will open the flood gates for States, Counties and municipalities to tax real estate sales..

So, this is “change you can believe in”?

Under the new health care bill — did you know that all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax?   

The bulk of these new taxes don’t kick in until 2013.   If you sell your $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax.  

This bill is set to screw the retiring generation who often downsize their homes.

Netanyahu called for a separate, viable prosperous and demilitarized Palistinian state and recognized Israel would be required to compromise. A weekend poll finds 70% of Israeli’s supporingt Natanyahu’s rebuke of Obama’s insult of Israel. Since last week Obama has insisted his speech was misunderstood - so why did he make it; if that is true. Netanyahu’s speech was interrupted 57 times by applause.

Four dozen CalPERS (The California Public Employees’ Retirement System) board members and employees are under investigation over allegations that they failed to accurately report political and other gifts.

The 49 names on a list obtained by The Sacramento Bee from the FPPC include political appointees CalPERS Board Chairman Rob Feckner and board members George Diehr and J.J. Jelincic. Chief Investment Officer Joe Dear is named, as is former CEO Fred Buenrostro. Buenrostro has been named separately in an ongoing investigation of influence peddling at the fund that is unconnected to the FPPC ( Fair political Practices Commission)) matter. CalPERS has  been accused of illegal political contributions, graft and an array of pay-to-play schemes. The FPPC itself is suspect for making political decisions.

CalPERS is often bllamed for a large part of California’s massive structural deficits because of corruption and insider deals that has put it into a massive hole. Some are calling for a Federal GRABD JURY investigation and prosecutions.

The highest paid CalPERS emploiyee was a portfolio mangers paid $608,000 last year while the fund lost tens of millions, and a score more were paid over $299,999.

The Federal Government is paying out more in entitlements than it takes  in in taxes $2.4 trillion compared to $2.3 trillion.

Professor Walter Williams of George Mason University long ago showed that you could give the poor enough money to lift them all above the official poverty line for a fraction of what it costs to support a massive welfare state bureaucracy.

We don’t need to send the country into bankruptcy, in the name of the poor, by spending trillions of dollars on people who are not poor, and who could take care of themselves. The poor have been used as human shields behind which the expanding welfare state can advance. So why do it?

The goal is not to keep the poor from starving but to create dependency, because dependency translates into votes for politicians who play Santa Claus. That of course makes tens of millions dependent enslvased to the dole.

It was the Historian Ed Gibbons six volume work The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (1776-1789) that pointed out how the grain dole that gave bread and wine to most Roman citizens killing ambition and soon Rome itself. He also blamed Christianity for preaching the virtues of an better life in the afterlife while scientists contend wine services in lead vessels leached the poison dementing masses of people into lethargy as they outsourced their futrue to mercencaries.

To force Israel into indefensible borders is not a prelude to a solution.  It is the prelude to a modern equivalent of the Final Solution - the destruction of Israel and of the seven million Jews who live there.

How else are we to interpret a demand that Israel return to its 1967 borders and that this be the starting point for further negotiations?  The 1967 borders include a waist line across the middle of Israel that is all of twelve miles in length.  It can be walked easily in four hours and driven in less than fifteen minutes.  A jet would take one minute to overfly it.

To force Israel into indefensible borders is not a prelude to a solution.  It is the prelude to a modern equivalent of the Final Solution - the destruction of Israel and of the seven million Jews who live there.
 
Who can pretend that shrinking Israel would appease the Arabs any more than dismembering Czechoslovakia appeased Hitler?  The Palestinians, long kept seething with grievances by the United Nations refugee agency, Hamas, and the PA, want the right of return.  They demonstrated this just last week as they approached Israel’s borders demanding admission.  Short of having their farms and homes back - and driving out the Jews who have lived there for more than sixty years - there is no compromise that they will accept.
 
And what is the backdrop for Obama’s embrace of the essential Palestinian demand?  It takes place a few weeks after the merger of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, committing both to the destruction of Israel.  This is the entity Obama wants Israel to trust twelve miles from the sea!

If the last few months of revolutions in the Arab world have demonstrated anything, it is that the Arab street is more concerned with its own economic well being and in getting out from under the despotism of their regimes than about the plight of the Palestinians.  
 
The consequences for Jewish Democrats of Obama’s remarks are profound.  They must each now choose, bluntly and without room for equivocation between their support for Obama and their backing for Israel.  It is not Israel or the Republican Party that has forced this choice upon them.  It is the President himself whose anti-Israel bias or perhaps his pro-Muslim bias has never been more blatantly on display.
 
As President Obama solicits funds from American Jews, let us all remember our family, friends, and compatriots in Israel and honor them by saying no.  It is the time for American Jews to choose.  Just like it was in 1938.

The National Center for Policy Analysis’s published an excellent analysis of America’s energy needs and costs.

Today solar power is close to our fastest-growing renewable energy source. Its production grew 15.5% in 2009, but it still accounts for less then 0.5% of global electric power output. And it isn’t cheap: subsidized solar energy costs between $220 and $300 a megawatt hour, compared with $110 for electricity nationwide.

• That breaks down to $63.10 a megawatt hour for natural gas,
• $113.90 for nuclear power, $136.20 for modern coal-fired plants, and
• $210.70 for solar photovoltaic power.
• According to the Heritage Foundation the subsidies we pay are $23 per megawatt hour for solar and wind, compared
• o with $1.59 for nuclear power, 44 cents for conventional coal, and 25 cents for natural gas.

We must start becoming competitive, without large subsidies, to reduce the current distortion in our energy markets.

We should also end the 45-cent-a-gallon subsidy of ethanol, which yields one-third less energy per gallon than gasoline and less miles per gallon while driving the cost of corn and consequently beef, pork, etc. up nearly 70% in one year!  The cost of ethanol subsidies total about $6 billion per year. Sens. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Dianne Feinstein of California have introduced a recent bill to do away with the subsidies, along with a 2.5% tariff and 54-cent duty on imported ethanol.

To put it all in the perspective of the environmental zealots and the current administration, consider the statement of Energy Secretary Steven Chu in The Wall Street Journal: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the prices of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” The current gasoline price is about $8.50 a gallon in England and $8.80 in France and Germany. This guy is an obama appointee and kindred spirit determined to wreck America’s economy and punish families for having the drive t heir cars and trucks.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that only 29% believe the United States should systematically phase out the use of nuclear power plants over the next 50 years. Forty-seven percent (47%) do not agree, while another 24% are undecided.

The USPS isn’t in reality losing money. In 2006 Congress passed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act. In that law they required the USPS to prefund it’s retiree health care benefits for the next 50 years. No private company, and no other governmental agency, is required to do that. All others are pay as you go. That fund comes out to $75 billion dollars to be funded in a 10 year span. If you take out that $7.5 billion a year payment the USPS has actually been in the black every year since 1982. How many companies can make that claim? In reality the USPS has had a surplus, the USPS isn’t allowed to make a profit, of $800 million dollars so far this year.

If UPS and Fedex were required by Federal Law to have a FedEX Office and UPS store in almost every town in the US, as the USPS is, they would lose money. If UPS and Fedex were required by law to deliver to every house 6 days a week (not Cherry-picking the profitable ones), they wouldn’t have a profit. If everytime UPS or Fedex talked about closing a store, every Congressman was hauling their butts to hearings to justify it, as they do with the USPS, they might operate differently. If UPS and Fedex couldn’t close one of their stores because it only did a whopping $23 in business one day, they would have less profit margins.

In fact the USPS is not supposed to make a profit and should not compete with private business which it does by spending tens of million on advertising, and let’s not forget it sued UPS to try to stop if climing only it havd the right to deliver parcel post, anmd lost. But even today it works to disallow private companies from delivering first class mail with some obvious exceptions.

 The USPS sued Burger King over ads featuring  a letter carrier goofgf off. One says “With pancakes and eggs on my plate, the mail has to wait.” Another ad shows a carrier handing over his mail bag to a woman and then marching off to the nearest BK

A newly commissioned audit reveals that more than 2,900 dead people may have received more than $23 million in Social Security disability insurance payments.

Bureaucracy, its own excuse, strikes again.   Just take this last item: In the last two years we have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our entire nation’s history.

 Eleven people stormed into a house in a central Indian village and assaulted a woman whom they accused of witchcraft, blinding her and her husband by stabbing them in the eyes with scissors, police said on Saturday.

The last World War One combat veteran, British-born Claude Choules, who died aged 110, was laid to rest last Friday after a military funeral in the Australian port town of Fremantle.

Choules, who died this month in a Perth nursing home, shunned military parades in his later years, but on Friday more than 100 navy sailors formed a guard of honour for his casket.

During the church service, Choules’ casket, draped with the Australian White Ensign naval flag, flowers and a navy sailor’s hat, was flanked by two portraits, one as a young sailor and another wearing a classic Australian “bush hat.”

When the funeral service ended, the late Choules was saluted by a 12 rifle volley, fired three times.

Choules did not speak highly of war in his later life and was renowned for avoiding Anzac Day parades, Australia’s major war memorial day, only marching if ordered.

The only other surviving World War I veteran is believed to be Britain’s Florence Green, also 110, who served with the Royal Air Force in a non-combat role.

A California woman is in hack for trying to sell a Moon rock for $1.7 million to a NASA undercover agent.  About 2,200 samples of lunar rocks, core samples, pebbles, sand and dust - weighing about 840 pounds - were brought to Earth by NASA’s Apollo lunar landing missions from 1969 to 1972. A sample was given to each state and every foreign country. A recent count showed 10 states and more than 90 countries could not account for their shares of the gray rocks. It is unknown how she got the rock or in fact if it is real. The woman was not arrested, and it is unclear if she is in fact a law breaker except it is unlawful to sell any national treasurer and moon rocks are considered to be so.

60% of Americans 55 years of age and older oppose Obamacare and support its repeal.according to a Fox News poll release on Monday. 56% of those over age 60 say the same. The results break down on policical lines with Democrats opposed, Republican and Independents divided. Blacks and Hispanics favor Obamacare while an overwhelming number of whites oppose it.

Just in time for summer doldrums comes a new book to ignite a brand new conspiracy theory suitable for almost every drunken debate.

“Area 51; An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base,” a new book by investigative reporter Annie Jacobsen, lifts the veil on this six-decade mystery and raises a more explosive possibility: Did former Soviet leader Josef Stalin recruit Josef Mengele, the Nazi “Angel of Death,” to surgically alter children to look like aliens in 1947 to be part of the legendary Roswell, NM, UFO crash?

If the story is correct, the “UFO” and its otherworldly occupants eventually found their way to Area 51 for examination.

The government has never officially confirmed that Area 51 exists. And yet, as Jacobsen learned while researching her Area 51 book, Cold War spy planes (including the U-2) were developed at the base. Through declassified documents and discussions with Area 51 personnel, Jacobsen pieced together the puzzle of what went on there.

“In my reporting, I used 74 sources, 32 of whom lived and worked at Area 51 for extended periods of time,” Jacobsen told AOL.

“In many previously classified documents relating to activities at the base, the words ‘Area 51′ are conveniently blacked out,” Jacobsen said. “There’s always a euphemism for it — like ‘the test facility’ or ‘the base’ — but never Area 51.”

While conspiracy theorists and UFO devotees have long claimed — and hoped– that captured alien spacecraft are housed at the base, Jacobsen claims the secret craft were actually reverse-engineered from a captured Soviet MiG fighter jet. The A-12 Oxcart, a Mach 3 spy plane, was also reportedly developed at Area 51.
