    I present to you Sciurus aberti, AKA Sciurus aberti Woodhouse, AKA subspecies S. a. ferreus (True), AKA Abert’s squirrel or tassel-eared squirrel. Whew.

    Ours come in three color versions, black, grey and brown. Somehave little white or orange spots behind one or more ears up to a maximum of two.

    Like the French, I think you waste a consonant when you pronounce Abert, although cannot now find where I learned that, so it is obviously suspect.
