“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
To all my colleagues who have read my posts, I exhort you to do the same. I have written our President and herein lies a copy of what I said. I can only hope the IRS doesn’t come knocking on my door, or the boys in black suits don’t come to tote me away. If I’m no longer heard from, thou shalt know my plight. After all, I’m already on their “list.”
Dear Mr. President,
Never in my life have I written a letter to a president, now I find myself writing my second to you in less than a year. The last went unanswered, only receiving a response from one of your lieutenants, David Axelrod. He was kind enough to send me two web links on anti-propaganda, propaganda. Wow! Thanks.
I have also written my Congressman, Bart Gordon. I wrote last summer in an attempt to express my objections to the healthcare bill, and to share my grievances about our government’s inefficiencies and lack of consideration for our people. All seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
I now write to inform you of my discontent and disappointment in your presidency. For me to bemoan your shortcomings is unavailing and futile. It would not serve my purpose, or any purpose for that matter, to expound on what I’m sure you’ve already heard a thousand times. I am, however, concerned that your actions belie your words.
Within a week of your Administration rifling the healthcare bill through Congress, pushing it through at any cost, I received a letter from my healthcare provider. In it I was informed the cost of my coverage was going up 27.5% on April 1st. Is this a joke Mr. President? After all, it was April 1st. But alas, I assure you it was not.
Rarely have I used my health insurance in fifty-eight years of existence. Unfortunately I’m turning fifty-nine soon, no longer do they want to sell insurance to me. I’m being what’s called “priced out.” Or would that be kicked out? They can’t cancel me, but they are afraid they will eventually have to pay to maintain my ageing body. For that they continually raise my rate exponentially. 27.5% increase for turning fifty-nine, that’s unbelievable. For an individual such as myself who is in relatively good shape; non-smoker, non-drinker, no major health issues, I am now asked to pay $1068.00 per month for coverage. Is that insane or what? I thought your pricey agenda was going to fix this problem Mr. President?
It’s a boondoggle sir, one in which you have given us no choice but to accept. I have been forced to cancel my insurance and I believe it’s your agenda that caused it. The insurance companies are squeezing what they can out of the American people before you force them out of business with a public option. They are ridding themselves of those they do not want to insure. They are doing it by this practice and generating exorbitant revenues in the wake of your mandates. You know it is, only you won’t admit it.
And then there’s the dismissive and disparaging attitude you portray towards everyday Americans as you go about the business of making those who can’t think believe you are taking care of them. The marginalizing and coercing you and your minions push on good, law-abiding citizens, such as Thomas Lauria in the dispute over GM bonds, is unforgivable. Is it the purpose of the White House Press Corps to threaten and coerce Americans that don’t fall in line with your agenda?
Then there’s the Tea Party. Your Administration’s patronizing and intimidating ways cannot work. Is that a psycho-political tool? I expected more from you sir, I prayed for more. Are we insignificant Mr. President? Are we but vassals meant to pay homage to you and Congress? With its members making $174,000 a year, lifetime Cadillac healthcare, and a munificent retirement regardless of time on the job, it sounds like they have no idea how we suffer in the middle-class. Do they have any idea what bourgeois is sir?
It appears we are being led by plutocrats; out of touch, unconcerned and threatening Americans at every turn. Are we supposed to be pleased about returning to plutocratic rule? The same type of government from whence we came? To be happy about being told what to do and what’s good for us? What is it Mr. President? Please, tell me, you tell me everything else I’m suppose to do.
I’ve heard you say there is strife, concern and uneasy feelings amongst Americans these days. You’re right. Would you like to know why sir? Because of the aforementioned, and more. The country is losing its soul and the joys of heaven. Even the CBO says the path we’re on is unsustainable, with our debt rising to 90% of GDP by 2020.
I now find myself asking a simple question: Can Obama’s unctuous words soothe the cold deaf ears of America? I once had faith in you Mr. President, I once had hope. Now all seems dismal, all seems bleak. I smell death on tomorrow’s horizon, I never dreamed I would utter such words. God help us.

I hope you used spell check before sending it off.

Actually what I sent was in parchment form, I copied it on here. My typing isn’t very good as I have a disease in my hands, my fingers curl and I can’t straighten them. But thanks for pointing that out and I believe I’ve corrected all the errors. If you find any more, please, be kind enough to point them out. The draft to our beloved was okay.
