John Fund wrote in Tuesday’s WSJ saying“Plenty of reasons exist for suspecting absentee fraud may play a significant role in tomorrow’s Garden State contests.”
New Jersey’s Democratic Party has put pressure on County Clerks to “go easy” on absentee ballot signature verification opening the door to wholesale voter fraud made worse by the government workers union in which they are members which supports Corzine and has moved in from out-of-state for Corzine. This is especially so since Corzine signed a new “Vote by Mail” law in June that makes it harder to detect fraudulent ballots..
Governor Corzine’s own close association with ACORN is being downplayed while it has moved major operations into New Jersey setting up offices in Jersey City, Trenton, Paterson, and Newark.
A Quinnipiac University poll has the race within the 2.5% margin for error with Republican Christie leading by 2%. That sets up the possibility of a recount like the Al Franken fiasco in Minnesota where contested absentees carried the day for the comic. According to New Jersey election officials there has been a marked increase in request for absentee ballots in fact a flood of nearly 200,000 additional requests.
New Jersey is notorious for rigged elections, for instance:
· Last September, New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram announced the indictments of Atlantic City Councilman Marty Small and 13 campaign workers, charging that they solicited absentee ballots on behalf of individuals not qualified to receive them, then opened the sealed ballots, and destroyed any that were not cast for Small.
· In this election, supporters of Roberto Feliz, an Independent candidate for mayor of Camden, are sounding alarms over suspicious ballot activity, Fund reports. One Feliz backer says absentee ballots, which are thought to be more vulnerable to voter fraud, have increased by a factor of 15 compared with previous elections.
· “In the 2005, when the city’s voters voted for both governor and mayor on the same day, only 200 absentee ballots were cast,” Fund writes. “This year, some 3,700 have already been received.” Fund adds that the Feliz campaign has received complaints from voters regarding absentee irregularities.
In addition to ACORN SEIU Local 32BJ, the government employees union which is headquartered in Philadelphia but maintains an office in Newark, is “heavily involved” in the New Jersey gubernatorial election and backs Corzine.. Troublesome since its members are county election office officials.
Further New York’s “Working Families Party” also has “moved into” New Jersey. The Working Families Party has very close ties to Acorn, that is notorious for its labyrinthine network of controlled affiliates.
ACORN and its affiliates is under investigation or being prosecuted in a dozen states for various voter fraud offenses during last November’s presidential election.
The Working Families Party formed in 1998 and now has chapters in Connecticut, South Carolina, and Oregon, and is working towards establishing itself in Massachusetts and California bills itself as activists and progressive. Its nation executive is rawn from the ranks of the United Auto Workers and SEIU.
This race and Virginia’s Governor’s race are being described as litmus test for Obama who was elected one year ago.
