Dempire Strikes Back….Per Rachel

Today, uber left wing Democrat Rachel Maddow of MSNBC told us the public option has been dusted off and declared as never having been potentially off the table.
She seemed to be making fun of Democrats like Kent Conrad who says there are not enough votes for the public option while showing a letter signed by 60 Democrats declaring there will be no bill without a public plan.
With characteristic ebullience she declared “Liberal Hardliners” will have their way with Obama.
In a pizza ordering skit she demonstrated her technique for overcoming those who say they want pizza but say no too her favored ingredients. Because of that Democrats took single payer off the table, for now only according to Barney Fife while walking and talking in the hallways of power. She says the good guys thereby bent over backwards, a convincing attempt to find something acceptable to Republicans. So, because they also do not like some things like the public option and other ingredients on the health care pizza, she accuses them of making the process impossible so the majority will just have to bull through with their supermajority that Al Franken gave them.
“Republicans do not really want pizza, so just order for them’ and not worry about them any more.”
Kathleen Sebelius who along with the President floated the sinker that a public option is but a “sliver” of the plan, such an embarrassingly but still denied, about turn from what he campaigned on, which the far left wing of his party say is the reason they supported him (as what, opposed to McCain?). Because they “won” they will do anything to cram through their sacred cow of public option. As Sebelius says, solely in order to cut costs, provide more options and keep the insurance companies honest. So wrong, but true that is what the far left seems to be drawing the line in the sand on with their President.
A female representative of what Rachel named, the “supposed mythical liberal base” told her that the insurance companies are the ones who have created a system that forces people to go bankrupt and should not be rewarded like the banks and Wall Street who created the melt down. What a stretch, but an emotional one nonthinkers will swallow easily.
Poor, complex, counterproductive government regulations are the primary cause of the high cost of our health care spending nationally. Private industry has no choice but to find ways to deal with too many bad regulations and indeed do things I am appalled by. Think Fannie and Freddie.
If you are not for a single payer, public option, or coop system, you are not for reform says Mr Trumpet of the AFL-CIO.
Observations by me: The government runs Medicare, setting all the rules and hires insurance companies to do a lot of the work. It is going bankrupt. The VA medical system is not a widely lauded system, indeed, may vets who qualify do not choose to use it, paying for private insurance or getting into other special government or organization based programs, there seems to be many other special health care systems that loosely comprise out health care system. Dempire only want to “reform” the bad onld insurance companies and continue to force employers to endure costs of administering, rather than find a free market solution.
I AM FOR REFORM. THE FOUNDATION TO SUCCESSFUL REFORM IS TO CREATE MORE COMPETITION IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND THAT CAN ONLY HAPPEN IF THE GOVERNMENT, FEDERAL AND STATE LEVELS WORK TOGETHER TO INSURE COMPETITION CAN WORK CROSS STATE LINE, WITH REDUCED REGULATIONS.
Principles like individual ownership of their own insurance plans, no denying coverage for preexisting conditions, no dropping after claims and other important items like that should indeed be embedded by our government in law and regulations while eliminating all of the impediments that currently exist to competition.
During the last several decades, the government competed unfairly with the old savings and loans and banks in the form of Fannie Mae and Freddie Did, government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) also a giant govenment created mortgage Duopoly.
Do not overlook oh how successfully the unprofitable government run posts office, a monopoly in your mailbox, owned by the Post Office at your expense. How did Fed Exp or UPS even get started when the government had this monopoly? The government’s record to operate a monopoly railroad costs taxpayer large annual bailouts.
The government run VA health care system is not a great model of health care, nor cost effectiveness, and Obama told a military crowd yesterday that the VA will not change one bit after his health care bill is signed. Guess the Vets think it can even slip backwards and do not want that.
Medicare and bankruptcy are used in the same sentence by right, left and center frequently.
If the government competes with while it regulates private health care even more, we will have a Health Care Melt Down with some similar results as the foolish lending meltdown whose original and ultimate cause was due to private enterprise trying to compete with the government, to overcome the governments cheaper funding and succeeding in finding ways to make the same stupid loans the government did.
That destructive lending by the Duopoly was protected in the late 1990s by the likes of Barny Fife, Hair Plug and Doo Doo who insisted Fannie and Freddie were not in any financial danger nor causing any problems and therefore did not need more regulating. Both Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan and the Bush Administration wanted more restrictions on the Duopoly and so testified before the Three Stooges of Lending. All available on youtube for anyone who does not want to believe it.
Those, and other stooges in both political parties, also an expensive duopoly in need of refrom, kept the Bush Administration form limiting the almost infinite leverage by these GSEs which were managed by a string of Democrats some of who are current Czars and other bigwigs in the Obama administration. Private industry, bankers and Wall Street had to create special smoke and mirrors in order to compete with the government. They, private enterprise, after decades of chaffing under the unfair competition of the GSE Duopoly, finally created fire in the 1990s like the GSEs.
The Three Stooges of Lending today are fixing the government created problems while beat up only the bad boys of once near private enterprise, the banks and and Wall Street, pure enterprise until they became Banks recently, and the Bush admin. But we know better don’t we?
Why not duplicate all of that now so obvious mistake in an oh so similar way, before the blood has even been wiped up on the catastrophe?
Paraphrased, Guest Bill Maher told Rachel “all Republicans have a more casual relationshop with the truth than Democrats and he has always felt that way. Republican he says do not really care about the truth, they are all about ‘feeling’ and accuse Dems of being naive etc but really they are the ones who do not care about the truth. Thanks Bill, I truly laugh at the humor you use to influence public opinion so well.
Maher say the real death panel is the Democratic Senate finance committee of Dem Conrad, Dem Bauccus, others from small states representing 1% of the nation are holding this up more than Republicans. Where is Ophra and others now that the hard work is being done. Where are the days when someone could twist someones arms for pictures of or knowledge of Senators having some beast in bed with them as blackmail to get their vote….sloppy but as best I can represent it as I was laughing so much. You see, I really do like his satire.
As has been said, satire owes nothing to the truth not even the satire of Maher.
“A supermajority in theSenate, an 80 seat lead in the House and a popular new President in the White House and we can get what we want’ a paraphrased Rachel laments saying “she is experiencing a reduction in expectations due to the failure”.
Hopefully she will soon wake up, smell the coffee, change kook aid brands and realize that she is supporting unsupportable policies that are not going to improve the lives of those 45 million uninsured she and Obama claim they want to vote for them, oops, she meant get good coverage.
Some will no doubt think I am being disingenuous, but I also laugh a lot with Rachel, while often agreeing with many “facts” she presents, but often disagreeing with her interpretation and her of weighting of the relative importance and her forecasts of consequences.
