Republicans Are Straight Up Drinkers Democrats Like “Pink” Drinks
Three Fingers of Wild Turkey - Please.
Bartenders in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area preparing for the GOP convention there next week might take note of a new survey of the drinking habits of Republicans and Democrats.
Among the findings of the survey of about 100 bartenders in the Washington, D.C., area, which were reported by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune:
- Asked who is more likely to order a drink straight up, 82 percent of respondents said Republicans, and 14 percent said Democrats.
- Democrats are more likely to order a fruity (pink) drink - they were chosen by 58 percent of the bartenders, compared to 34 percent for the Republicans.
- 74 percent of bartenders said Democrats have the best pick-up lines, and just 14 percent chose Republicans.
- Republicans are more likely to arrive first for happy hour - but Democrats are more likely to be the last to go home.
The survey was commissioned by Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc., whose beverages include Jim Beam bourbon and Canadian Club whisky, in collaboration with Clarus Research Group.

Richard, the survey is quite understandable. The Democrats have more time in the bars because they don’t fulfill their obligations in congress. And Clinton led them for so long, with his myriad of scurrilous lines, I’m sure a few of them have picked up on many. Also, because congress is on vacation so much and it’s majority Democrat, they have more time to stay out late and close the bars. As far as “pink” drinks, they are after all, for the most part, passive thinkers. You know, turn the other cheek. Don’t offend or upset anyone, etc. Does that help?

Hello Folks, I know how hard-hitting a news story this — the drinking habits of Democrats vs. Republicans. I have to say, however, that it’s funny the topic should come up. And please, let’s not talk about the Democratic drink selection being equated with passive thinking when we have a recovering alcoholic, coke snorting party-boy president. In fact, our patriotic leader spent so much time partying that he didn’t show up for his stint in the service. Oh, I know, that’s the past. Sorry.
However, I agree with you on one point, but for different reasons. Our Congress has indeed done virtually next to nothing. And I’m not talking about lifting the offshore drilling ban or anything like that. What our Congress hasn’t done is bring this out of control administration back in from the edge of reality. This Congress has failed in its duty to preserve, protect and defend the U.S. Constitution. They have allowed The Bush administration to run amok.
You certainly can’t call George Bush passive. He’s started two ill-advised, ill planned wars that he can now dump in someone else’s lap. He has set worldwide diplomacy back decades. He is the first president since Herbert Hoover to have negative job growth. The economy is a mess for all but the wealthy. Bush is a disgrace, having the audacity to admit on national television that he approved the use of torture. He has spent the better part of eight years assaulting the U.S. Constitution. His administration has systematically eliminated the checks and balances that are the cornerstone of our democracy in order to redefine the presidency into one of imperial rule. Nope. Can’t call that passive can you?
However, remember that George Bush has failed this country just as badly as the Democratic-led Congress. He has also chosen not to preserve, protect and defend the U.S. Constitution. In fact, he has blatantly chosen to ignore large portions of the Constitution during his imperial rule.
If the Democrats lose, it’s because they have continued to allow George Bush to run around like some kind of crazy cowboy since their return to power in 2006. It will not be because John McCain is the answer for this country. He is not. In fact, he’s the last thing we need after Bush.
