Vice President John Edwards? Not likely

The National Enquirer story about former presidential candidate John Edwards’ meeting at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with his alleged mistress and the child they had together, has been ignored by mainstream media. Fox News did corroborate that Edwards was there, and that the potential Democratic VP nominee was not registered as a guest at the hotel.

Now the U.K. Sunday Times has broken the overseas silence on the Edwards allegations. “Sleaze scuppers Democrat golden boy,” the newspaper’s headline reads.

“Gotcha: Senator John Edwards, whose wife has cancer, has been caught in a sex scandal that ends his vice-presidential hopes,” the subtitle hits again.

Will The New York Times, The Washington Post, alphabet networks, and other major media players report the story now? The LA Times asked bloggers not to blog about it…….

Guess jonathanturley.org did not get the memo from Tony Pierce.

As Bill Clinton jokes, it’s the coverup that get’s you in trouble.

    Richard, I have read many of your posts previously and I’ve have always enjoyed and admired your point of view. However, what is this your are writing? Are you really supporting the print of a tabloid? Are they muckrakers or quidnuncs? I always presumed them quidnuncs. Could you give me some veritable references, not that I doubt your sources.

    This simmered for months but MSM chose to irgnore it until dwards vanished from the Democrat Preisdential race. I decided it was worthy after FNN verified it. Check out the other links. The LA Times slammed a lid on the story. A contact on BHPD confeirmed it but was told to keep his mouth shut. Go figure…

    Thanks to you both. However, I did check every reference I could find and Fox News only verified that Edwards was there, but not staying in the hotel. No tryst or affair has been verified by any individual that has publicly come forward. At this point it appears to be slander, conjecture, or like Jason said, a right-wing conspiracy. (Although I doubt the latter.)

    The affair won’t be acknowledged until the story truly breaks. Fox verified that Edwards was acting kooky (moreso than usual). My very-left-leaning hometown paper in Raleigh, the N&O, has this article today, http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/1160048.html

    Edwards has been ducking the media at every turn. This is a big change in behavior for him. I believe there’s a reason for it.

    BTW, the gated community where Edward’s alleged baby mamma rents a house, is one of the most exclusive around here. There’s rumor that she’s been getting a $15,000/month payday. She’d need it to rent a house in there. Governor’s Club has one of the most beautiful golf courses I’ve ever seen, and we have plenty in the great state of NC.

    Edward’s long time aid Andrew Young, claimed the baby is his, and he also lives in that neighborhood (with his wife and kids) lending credence to his claim. A quick paternity test sure would clear it up. There’s a possible VP, Attorney General, or Cabinet spot, riding on this, so what’s the hold-up?
