Obama Speaks to the Masses, ONLY

If the press isn’t there, don’t expect to find Obama either.

While in Germany, the Obama campaign had a couple of scheduled stops for Obama to visit with troops. Obama canceled his meeting with US troops at Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases Friday. This is part of the Obama campaign’s official reason why….

The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.

Why would he think it isn’t appropriate? Does he think his campaign supporters would have a problem paying for 3-4 people to go visit troops that were wounded defending freedom? I mean, they’re already in Germany, how much could it cost? I know gas is VERY expensive due to their outrageous taxes, but still…

More likely, and surprisingly reported by NBC,

One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama’s representatives were told, “he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers.” In addition,
“Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama’s visit.”

The official said “We didn’t know why” the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. “He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him.”

Sorry troops, SENATOR Obama is playing president today.
