When Sex and Politics Collide

Finally heard from SSG Dizzy. He made it back to Iraq, safe and sound. I wasn’t expecting to hear from him for a couple more days, so it was nice chatting with him on the internet.
Shortly after the war in Iraq started, I heard about the Greek play, Lysistrata. It was being put on in a theater in Denver. I didn’t go, but I recall, while reading the review, my curiosity about the idea behind this feminist story.
For those who don’t know or too lazy (or unable) to click the link, Lysistrata is a play about a woman, Lysistrata, who leads other women to band together and withhold sex to end a war and secure peace. Apparently, the first feminist play that actually called for “making love not war”. And, notable in a place and time where women’s sexuality was in no way respected by men. But, the world has not changed very much: even then women understood that sometimes you have to withhold the “poonaneh” to make men listen (not sayin’ it’s right, jus’ sayin’ it still happens…).
So, why do I bring this up now?
Well, I was trippin’ by driftglass, as I am apt to do on a semi-regular basis and came across this hilarious video:
Not to worry, though. That poor guy may not have gotten the girl in today’s first video, he definitely stands a much better chance with these ladies:
Personally, I only sleep with Libertarians. But, I’ll bet if more women refused to sleep with Republicans, especially their paid consorts, maybe, jus’ maybe they might see the light.
Nah…I don’t think so, either.
