Geophysicist Chapman’s assertions on global warming provoked a sharp response from Dr. David Karoly of the University of Melborne published in the Australian April 29th saying Chapman is wrong in his assumptions and that global warming is correct, and will continue into the 21st century despite fluctuations like Chapman cites.
Professor Bob Carter of the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at James Cook University, in Australia has previously said, “Gore’s circumstantial arguments are so weak that they are pathetic. It is simply incredible that they, and his film, are commanding public attention.” Carter’s assessment is notwithstanding the hyperbolic most scientists agree “there is (i) absolutely no consensus on the degree of risk from human warming, and (ii) no direct evidence that CO2 is producing dangerous warming.”
Scientific debate can be lusty particularly when it is extracted for political purposes or hired out for other reasons as has been the allegations in global warming. “Produced facts,” otherwise known as fiction, like the styrofoam icebergs and staged polar bear scenes in Gore’s “documentary” An Inconvenient Truth raises the volume but doesn’t provide facts.
