Barack is First. Sorry Jesse.

The candidacy of Barack Obama carries with it a major first in Presidential Campaigns.
What is that first? Say the words. Listen. Think.
Why does society (you and I) even characterize it at all?
I long for the day when society judges political candidates, and others, only by the “content of their character rather than the color of their skin” in the powerful words of our most famous civil rights worker, Dr King. When can I schedule the party celebrating such an achievement?
Never.
Will we ever get to the point where we no longer separate ourselves along various lines such as religion, education, or school, or club, or accent, or looks? Or?
NO.
I long for a society embracing our oneness but in my lifetime I expect to meet Santa in person before that happens.
So many things create separation in our society. Just how far should we go to limit the destructive powers of separations and encourage celebrations of diversity?
What really works?
